As title. There are no lights on the trailor. Swapped the leads over and checked fuse under the dash in the passenger footwell. Lights on the daf unit are all ok
Just out of interest how do you think we solved these issues before we had internet?
Or is this progress ? Do we not talk to others anymore?
Not knocking, just curious?
Easy fix…
Pick up the phone and say oi, these lights aren’t working.

He did…
Only he picked up the internet [emoji6]
As above I’d defect it , or if there’s a garage on site see if theyl have a look , if not theyl have to get someone out to it , these days if it’s just back lights I do whip off lense as had 2 out a few months ago to find no bulbs in holders , I guess someone had 1/2 go and pinched them
The airlines go on the metal connectors, the electrical ones go in the plastic sockets…

Could get sacked for checking the fuse depending on where you work, just out of interest if it was the fuse do you carry spare ones
Was hopping for a simple fix but the wires had been broken in the sockets on the trailor

then your have to get a pair of multi metres test from start to finish, unit suzes to light on trailer point for point until you find the big clue!

then is the broken wires in socket then the big clue? Sounds quite simple to me

All of them break at once? That’s unusual. So what’s happened? Fitter repairing it or swap to another trailer?

I bet some night guy was rushing around and forgot to pull his electric lead out when he dropped the trailer , hence damaged socket
.
PaddyTheLorryDriver:
If all broke wouldn’t that point to someone possibly forgetting to unplug them when uncoupling?
I had a reverse light out other day. Got rather wet changing the bulb twice, then swapping fuses to eliminate, it was just a Suzie needed a wiggle
Changing the lead end-for-end sometimes works.

Maybe but it only needs the earth to be broken to knock out all the lights.
PaddyTheLorryDriver:
A few weeks back a DHL lorry had it’s trailer brake suddenly lock on. This happened as it turned into the shared entrance of all places after driving a couple of hundred miles. It was a broken air line.
Were they able to move it with the shunt button?
Why bother? they won’t think any more of you for sorting the problem. Should your efforts cause an issue on the road then they won’t hesitate to blame you and may even go so far as trying to stop payment for your shift. I know someone who was sacked for helping out, the big company claimed he ‘sabotaged the vehicle’, he was unable to prove otherwise because the office people lied.
Don’t go any further than swapping the electrical suzie. I wouldn’t even try checking fuses unless they specifically tell you to. The interior lights of most units are so poor you won’t see properly and the diagrams on the fuse box lid are a pain to interpret. Pull the wrong fuse out and you can easily trigger a dash warning.
At the end of the day if they can’t provide night-time cover for this then they deserve what follows to their schedules.
The idea was to get off up the road . However the return load had to be transhipped 3 times due to faulty trailors

Thanks [emoji106] I replaced a bulb on a trailer last night. It’s a hard line to take, refusing a full trailer for the sake of a simple fix, but I will bear it in mind.
