No CD slot

 Last week and this I’m doing Birkenhead - Kingsbury - East Midlands Airport - Birkenhead overnight trunking for TNT. My job as a freelance driver is nothing if not full of variety! But yes, Italy is one of my favorite runs and thankfully I’ve done it a fair bit this year for Whites. Glad you enjoyed the video

Well, yesterday I took all my CD’s out of my work bag, and replaced them with a fully charged up iPod with several play lists all ready to go. I turn up to work to find that they’ve had another reshuffle of the units, and the brand new truck is gone, to be replaced with an older 2014 vintage truck for my run, with… you’ve guessed it, a CD player and no USB socket.

Oh, FFS ! I’ve just cleared out my bag of CD’s and still nothing to play now. So, it was back to Sky radio Netherlands and Nostalgie FM Belgie for the duration of the shift. Looks like I’m going to have to cover all bases these days and carry CD’s and an iPod, just in case. :unamused:

Music snobs like me will argue that the MP3 format has inferior sound quality, compared to the CD. The digital files are compressed, so you lose a lot of the sound spectrum, and clarity of the different instruments.

Depends how you listen to music - if it is just a driving companion to break the silence, probs doesn’t matter, but if you want to actually listen to what the bass player and the drummer and so on are doing, then MP3 is poor.

I just had a car delivered, it has all the bells and whistles, USB, Bluetooth and DAB. I was shocked to discover a CD player in the glove box and an SD card reader. I am still using Appleplay and Spotty Fly

Tonight, I’m back in my normal 2016 truck, and it has a CD player, AUX In socket, and an interactive screen which is talking to my ipod despite the language difference, so I have music and I’m happy. Tomorrow, I’m in the 2014 model with a more elderly CD player and no screen, so I’ll have to see how that goes? Thanks again for all the advice.

By the way, next week is Kooie Markt (cow market) in the town where I live. It’s an annual event where they reinact how cows were bought and sold in the old days, so there’ll be lots of blokes wearing wooden clogs and slapping cows arses or rolling Dutch cheeses. If anyone wants to see udders and teats (Dipper Dave?), or classic tractor ■■■■, let me know and I’ll post some pictures up lol.

i have my own DAB pioneer head unit fitted in my cab as apart from holidays im the only who drives it.its got a cd drive plus has a lead where i connect my 32gig usb to which can hold over a 100 albums at any one time.i have mainly metal stuuf on it from aerosmith to def leppard to metallica iron maiden slipknot.even got stuf from a band called band maid who are a jpop rock group which is all ladies which sound awesome.also have elo and few other classic albums on there.im for ever adding and deleting stuff every few weeks.

The thing is, now that I have to use an ipod instead of CD’s, I now have a lead trailing across to the USB slot and it upsets my slight ocd in having a tidy looking dashboard.
