As their name suggests, these are lanes which cars cannot use, but anything else can.
I have seen a couple of these but only in Newcastle, are there any others?
One or two bus lanes in London that are also able to be used by vehicles over 7.5 tons (probably bicycles taxis perambulators and uncle tom cobley and all), usually on hills and not on the main drags, there was one near Muswell Hill i used to use regularly but the information signs were so complex i have no idea if i got it right, what hope Johnny Foreigner.

I only know of one other and that is in Sunderland, maybe it is a Tyne & Wear thing?
There’s one in Guildford.

This ones brilliant, It takes you all the way from the A19 to almost the city centre and vice versa
So there are quite a few of these no - car (or bus & HGV lanes) lanes around the country!
Doesn’t it make more sense to keep the biggest and clumsiest motors moving
and in separate lanes from cars and get them out of town quicker?
Isn’t that just another name for lane 1 of any motorway?
Goodish point! But why can’t the car drivers stay in their very own private lane 3 that
no-one else can use and insist on cluttering up lane 1
Good idea though until the bus in front stops!
The A2 passes Luton (yes really) up a long drag of a hill, there’s a bus lane that trucks can use and at the top all the cars that have sailed past get held at the lights to wait for you.
I wheezed up there in an old 130E15 fridge years back, heavily loaded and with the alternator fridge running -30 barely made the top of the hill and limped ahead of all the cars About the only time it was ever fun driving one of the hateful things.

As a resident of Kent, I can assure you that the A2 does not go anywhere near Luton and I think you’d find most truck drivers would agree. Unless I’ve missed something?
There is a Luton in the Chatham area. Last time I was there it was in Kent
That’s right.
Leeds is beside the M20, and i used to load out of Rainham on the A2

Hook. line and sinker Didn’t think I’d catch Harry out.
There’s one for a short (less than a mile) distance on the A23 going north towards Croydon at Coulsdon.
