Nights out can be risky

Its 11pm I’m sleeping soundly in my truck outside a nice country pub 200 miles from home, the phone rings…
My wifes in a panic the whole house stinks of petrol, there is several gallons of fuel on the garage floor leaking very quickly from a vehicles tank, my son is mopping it up with a mop & bucket while they try to catch the rest in pots & pans . Oh ■■■■ !

I give her basic instructions of dont go in the kitchen for a ■■■ & then told my boy how to dissable the central heating as it is a gas boiler mounted in the garage running on a timer. I then hung up and called a mate, who even at this late hour, turned up. Pushed my wifes car out of the garage as starting the engine or even opening the door couldve created a spark. Then he cleaned up & made sure everywhere was well ventilated and finally putting the spilt fuel into jerry cans. Top man.

But I shudder to think what couldve happened especially as I have my oxy/acetaline kit in there!

Sounds like you owe him a pint or 3.

Any number of reasons you might not have been there, not just the job. If I couldn’t have summoned friends or family to assist I think I’d have had the fire brigade out and swallowed the bill.

It sounds like you did the right thing and that is what mates are for, sometimes Women and petrol should not be allowed in the same kitchen… :open_mouth:

yeah calling the Fire Brigade was the next step if I couldnt have got help. Imagine it though; evacuated street, foam filled garage, insurance company wanting to know why I have oxy/acetaline bottles…

Good job the instructions you gave were ‘basic’ and thank the lord there was a boy around to do the more complicated task.

Gosh, I wonder how all the single women manage to get through life… :unamused:

Its times like that a good reliable mate is invaluble

Always one ain’t there?

why do women do this?
i’ve been 2000 miles from home and got a soppy phone call.“my bikini top is stopping me from getting a complete tan”.
“it’s ok, i’ll send my mate round to sort it out”.

I was in Canada a few years back. I was chilled watching some tv in the aft when the wife, back in the uk, called to tell me theres someone trying to get in the house. What am I supposed to do?

In my experience they either call their father or a male friend to sort out those type of things.

and because most of us blokes are still a sucker for a damsel in distress we come a running, with Bonnie Tyler singing behind us.

But please let us have our moment to be men, as society seems hell bent on emasculating us completely. :frowning:
my god they now even make trucks that women can drive.

Poor lad had a 'cet bottle in his van, which was leaking. Blew half the high street apart. RIP drive:
