beware of the lwb ■■■■■■ van with the orange beacons switched off and sidelights switched on
Parked up in a layby on the A92, (wasn’t a night out but…) It was just off the road, had a 45 to take and was determined to spend at least a hour in the bunk, this was about 14:30, so parked up, jumped out walked round and saw a dirty pair of boxer shorts, covered in ■■■, with a large turd wrapped in it. I climbed in the passenger side took my boots off closed the curtains and had my hour, slept like a baby… Woke up, put my boots on, jumped out, totally forgot about the boxer shorts - stood in it and got my boots all ■■■■… Human ■■■■!!!
Slept great though

what’s it like on a night out in a lay byCrap. They stink of pi$$, there’s nowhere to get a wash and nowhere to go to the toilet which is why they smell of pi$$. The bushes are usually littered with bottles of a very familiar yellow fluid and just don’t go opening any carrier bags you see. You spend all night with the cab being rocked by every single passing vehicle including cars and worrying whether your trailer curtains will still be in one piece come the morning.
This has got to be the first time I have agreed with Conor
(aka. Mr Thatiswhatthedcpcisfor ) on anything
I never park in lay bys for all these reasons, in fact it should be illegal on both h&s, and crime prevention grounds,( not to mention basic human rights) and as a gateway to proper facilities being provided for overnight parking.
Even European style roadside parks with toilets would be a start.

illegal on crime prevention grounds? Are you suggesting that it would be illegal to expose ourselves to the possibility of being a victim of crime? Then would you make it illegal to own a house, just in case it was burgled! Or to walk down the street in case you were mugged!

Na I made sure they were wiped clean and walked through some puddles, no way was I driving down the road stinking of human excrement… It made me wonder, Did he crap himself or did he take a dump and wipe with his boxers?

Yeh ok point taken, I obviously did not come across in the way that I intended to.
A better way of expressing it would be to say make it illegal on h&s grounds (surely that is unarguable) which would have a side effect of a reduction in crime.

I agree with you there. At the moment, the regulations state that " a daily or a reduced weekly rest may be taken in a vehicle, as long as it is stationary and fitted with a bunk". I would like to see another caveat to that, something like “and as long as it is parked at an approved resting facility.” Never happen, though.
