Night out

Need some advice just got back to yard after night out was about 25mins from base had 20 min driving time left last night rush hour.
Been told may not get night out as too near base and I could go over by 15 for safe parking
Is this true

Yep as the depot is a safe parking place

For the sake of 5 minutes Idve just driven over time and gone with the safe parking line

According to DVSA :-

If driving time exceeded by up to 15minutes and:
in isolated cases = VERBAL WARNING
if apparent that the tolerance is being deliberately abused on regular basis = PROSECUTE
if a continued journey is suspected and offence is current = PROHIBITION

If driving time exceeded by more than 15 minutes and offence is current - unless a reasonable justification is given, ie finish of duty and is very close to base:-
Over 15 minutes - up to 1 hour £100
Over 1 hour - up to 2 hours £200
Over 2 hours £300

Sounds like you were OK but don’t make a habit of it.
