In the mid 70’s I had an article published in Truck magazine entitled ‘Night out on Tahir’.

Unfortunately I have lost my copy and I would be very very grateful if anyone out there who is leafing through old ‘Truck’ magazines and finds it would contact me.

Bloody hell Jazzandy :exclamation: I remember reading that about 10 time’s :blush: Got to remember that in the 70’s it was something really special to get a good story about transport, especially running to the Middle East, was it a Mercedes you were driving :question: I did have all copies of TRUCK mag from the first issue but sold a load of them in 92 and then lost the lot in a house repo in 97 :frowning: But that’s life.

I must admit I don’t remember seeing your article,although I did see one or two about the middle east in the Truck magazine and wondered how one could get into that branch of transport.
Whilst tapping out my book about my 12 years middle east work,people who know about it ask me how many diaries I have to refer to.
My only diary is in my head,if you can’t get back the original article mate,you’ll have to do as I do,close your eyes,drift back and every detail comes back,then tap it out again.

Try Bubbleman, he’s bound to have it. Failing that, contact the magazine, they found one of mine, albeit a lot later than the '70’s!!

Not sure if these are still current but about 2yrs ago i contacted them about a trip i done to Saudi in the mid 70s for the article and they copied it from their achives and sent it to me,so try,they were very helpful.Mike

Yes you’re right Davepen it was a Mercedes 1418 and I was driving for Freightlanes at the time.

Hi Jazzandy like brookie said try Marc ( Bubbleman ) he’s your best shot really knowledgable on lot of the old stuff from Magazines it might even be on his brilliant scrapbook thread ! Good luck !

Still haven’t found the issue with my story in it. It was Truck magazine and must have been '74 '75, '76 or maybe '77. I was driving for OHS when it came out. Anyone help■■?

I will have it somewhere, but probably wont have time to look for it till the weekend.

Can anybody narrow down the search a bit by giving a closer idea of the month/year?

The story was published while I was working for OHS and my GMC reg. no. was LYL 402p. I think it must have been '76 or '77 but if not it might just have been '75.

I think the title was on the cover so that might make searching a little bit easier. Otherwise it was a three page spread with a large illustration.
