I’m in the truck tonight, ready for an early start tomorrow, and the night heater won’t fire up. The thermostat rheostat on the back wall is flashing up fault code 1-5.
Does anyone know what fault code 1-5 means?

Sounds a little fancy, sorry i can’t help in the slightest as I’ve never had any night heater probs. What breed of heater is it? ill have a Google
I don’t know, almost certainly Renault original equipment. It has fired up now but I’d still be interested in knowing what the 1-5 fault code means, I’ve checked for blockages and there aren’t any, I’m presuming that the next most likely suspect is a failing glow plug?
These are popular but not sure if it’s what they fit in yours, have a read.it maybe something you can do yourself if it just needs a clean up.

Ta, looks like “overheating lock-out”. I’ll have a closer look tomorrow. Can’t see anything obvious but imagine it’s blocked up with dust.
Find it, unbolt it and blow it out with an airline, or get it serviced. Should be about £100 and only takes half a day.
i think 15 is night heater non start!!!
if it doesnt start for 3-5 times the heater shuts down
remove the 3 night heater fuses (in the fuse box) and then refit them ,resets the non start so the heater will then have another 3-5 attempts at starting
Erberspatcher have a themal probe that fits near the glow plug in the burning tube of the heat exchanger. If there is any restriction in air flow either in or out or the glow plug resistance rises it locks out the glow plug circuit.
Unlike the Webasto unit where you just pull off the control box on top to change the glow plug(they even give you a little box spanner with the plug)you got to remove the complete unit from the truck and take the whole bloody thing apart.A right pain in the arse.
Company I work for decided to run their trucks on 100% bio fuel a couple of years back and that really screws em up.Ended up taking one out nearly every night to change the plug and probe and decoke the heat exchanger unit.
