No such thing as a stupid question but you might get stupid answers!!
Tacho regs for nights are the same as the tacho regs for days
The RT(WT)R night time regs are different to days if you have not opted out of them
You can opt out if you have a workfoce agreement in place to do so
If not opted out then you are restricted to 10 hours of work (driving + other work added together) in any 24 hours
BUT BUT BUT âŚ
No official body seems to check on the RT(WT)R or be bothered about it so âŚ
from what i understand itâs no different from any other time of day.
it is all measured in 24 hour periods, not calendar days. doesnât matter if you start at 8am or 8pm.
hope that helps.
Are you allowed to do 15 hour shifts on nights?
BIGRIG:
Are you allowed to do 15 hour shifts on nights?
probably,i know i have.
i think night shift is only classed as it if itâs between the hours of 00.00 & 04.00,could be wrong though, been a while since iâve read/had anything to do with WTD
BIGRIG:
Are you allowed to do 15 hour shifts on nights?

Not confusing if you ignore the RT(WTD)R and concentrate on the tacho regs as per mucker85 below

Not confusing any more

Only if there is a workplace agreement to opt-out of the 10hr limit for work (doesnât include PoA or breaks). Or if there isnât then providing you can get in sufficient breaks and PoA to ensure that your actual âworkâ (driving and other work) is 10hrs or less you can do a 15hr duty, something quite easy to do when you spend 4hrs sat on a loading bay.
As you do sod all on days I canât see it being any different on nights to be honest Gordon

I have a question about driving at night,in simple English
As far as the tacho rules go
BIGRIG:
how many hours are you allowed to drive each night,
Nine hours, but twice a week you can extend that to a maximum of 10 hours.
BIGRIG:
and whats the maximum hours your allowed to work each night
You can have a duty time of 13 hours but three times between weekly rest periods you can extend that to 15 hours.
Nothing complicated about that.

You can reduce your daily rest, to a minimum of 9 hours, three times between weekly rest periods which means 3 shifts of 15 hours.
Cheers for that Coffee, for some reason i had it in my thick head that is was only twice a week you could reduce to nine hours !!!
One day Iâll get my head around it all !! I think lol

Twice a week extend driving to 10 hours, three times between weekly rest periods reduce daily rest to 9. Note the difference in the time frame for those two things, thatâs important.
