According to a brother trucker I bumped into (not literally) in the services last night, failure to follow the official diversion on any of the multitude of road closures WILL result in a £100 fine and 3 penalty points.
I did ask him how the Friday rules applied to this, but he wasn’t sure.
I really wish I’d done more RDC work so I wasn’t so out of date on the rules.
Drive safe brother truckers.
Cavey.
Sounds like the “each turn of the handle increases the fine” gag.
If you leave an “official” diversion route - yeh sure you WILL get fined if you hit a bridge or go down a 7.5t street with nimbys taking pictures of you like you’re driving a class 47 diesel or something…
If you pick a route that has no restrictions though - where’s the bother coming from?
The polizei would have to mark a diversion route - and mark all A road turn-offs as NO ENTRY TO VEHICLES…
…I can’t see something as draconian as that ever being enforced though.

I wonder if the rumour has been expanded / exaggerated from recent scottish police prosecutions against drivers who have moved or drove past “Road Closed” signs and found themselves needing to be rescued at considerable expense. In the floods at the end of last year I have been told a few car drivers needed to be rescued after ignoring such CLOSED signs and found themselves or at least their cars floating away down river, I believe one rescue involved three fire engines, a dive rescue team and a helicopter, meanwhile the woman had abandoned her car when it started to float and had went home for a nice cup of tea.
Utter BS the signs are advisories not compulsory.

That’s what I’m thinking!
