“I knew it wasn’t the regular driver. He always takes several goes to get on the bay - you backed straight onto it. Fancy a brew while we unload it?”

Did you get that glow and go all moist between your legs?!

You mean did he spill his brew
Bet you didn’t get a digestive to dunk though
I have been known to deliberatley make a right meal of bay manouveres (wrong bay, doors closed, 10 shunts, cab facing the loading ramp etc) so other drivers think i’m agency…

Don’t forget for the real agency look you need the biggest Bluetooth earpiece you can find and to walk with a slight limp. And to tell people you work when you choose to work
A nice thing to hear this morning at my collection was " oh good your 3 hours early, once your loaded we can go home" knew I wasn’t going to be long then

Also wearing a high viz vest when in the cab and not carrying an emergency sleeping bag.

Nothing like a good compliment on your reversing to put a smile on your face at work!

Unplanned night out thread anyone?
I’m agency with limp.
Is that a common thing?
In my defence the seat in the blue supermarket lorries is like sitting on a breeze block. And after a circuit of Sth Wales, Midlands and Oxford my sciatica came back yesterday.
Note to self: Buy sleeping bag and keep in car

Yep I had it all the time when I was on agency ( shock horror I have walked the walk, or limp to be excact). I put it down to the seat squab that was cutting off circulation after more than 2 hours in the saddle and with different trucks it was usually the last thing to be set right in the seat.
If you adjust it back so the seat isn’t right under your knees this should work + exercise your legs a bit with a bit of in cab dancing on long journeys, also stretch and lift your feet under the peddals when on CC.
Or for a perfect fix get a proper job instead of the overpaid agency stuff…

HA HA HA HA, I spoke to an old work mate a few nights ago who fitted this image EXACTLY.

Preferably, buy sleeping bag and take it in the cab with you…

That’s exactly it. Every word there is exactly what I do
Only thing is when I was driving 7.5 or Class 2 I was able to tilt the seat forward which helped with the dead leg syndrome. People used to think I was mad for doing it. That position helped with lower back pain too. Can’t seem to be able to do it in what I’ve driven so far. Unless I’m missing something
Having only had my license 14months I havent driven many types of truck but the Volvo FH500 I drove once for Blakemore’s was the most comfortable drive I’ve had to date. No aches or niggles, twas absolute bliss.
As for the agency work. It suits me at the moment. I’ve ummed and ahhed about looking for full time work, security/pension n all that but I dont want full time to interfere with the band. Think I’d prefer flatbed work but dont even know if there are flatbed specific jobs apart from steel and timber
As for the sleeping bag in the car, working out of Magor at the moment so I’m able to retrieve said bag from car if I think I’m going to need it
Anyway, sorry for the highjack but I also had a few ‘you’re not the regular driver’ comments too

I get those all the time It’s not that most of our work is especially difficult or demanding (although some of it is quite physical), it’s just that lots of the delivery points have specific procedures and places where they want the stock to be stacked - and no two are the same! They get slightly peeved at having to explain these to a new face every week (or get the same face being reluctant to comply). Of course, the simple answer would be for my employers to incorporate these drop-specific instructions into the delivery paperwork, but this appears to be beyond their capability…

Should have stayed until your Booking Time, them waited another 3 hours, just to ■■■■ them off. (That’s what they do to us, isn’t it) lol.
