Would that hour and half steaming up be counted as POA or other work? 
I imagine the lorry magazines of the day were full of letters about drivers leaving piles of cinders on the floor and the service areas smelling of burnt soot.

50mph in a steam truck loaded with drum brakes and still virtually cart wheels for grip, balls of steel those guys !! No doubt they were thankfull of that 20mph speed limit

I was on a go slow one day and poodling down the Witney Bypass at about 45, I got passed by a Sentinel. The fireman was working hard but the driver gave me a wave
