For £1 million (including trailer)!

Wonder how much Geoff Johnsons trailer and Titans cost then

gcsjohnson.co.uk/projects/iming.htm

I hear that they are looking for a driver for it…£7 an hour

Even with four axles I don’t believe the tractor unit cost £200,000 and as for the trailer costing £800,000, I’d be more likely to believe in fairies at the bottom of the garden.

There’s a lot more to it than slapping an axle on them.

There’s a lot of chassis strengthening, electrics, hydraulics and other ancillary equipment. Not to mention the additions to the drivetrain of torque converter or equivalent and retarders. Throw that onto the price of a top engined high spec base vehicle and…

and cue Rikki… :grimacing:

  • I am here Billy
Just for once Harry going to disagree, Titans are not cheap, simply because they don’t move any sort of volume of them, the 8x8 Tractomas will cost you a ■■■■ sight more than 200K , and the modular trailers , they look like Nicholas, that’s about right - the self propelled variant is also a lot more £’s - what you got to remember here is you cant buy these brand new of a dealer, they are bespoke motors built and equipped for each order

2 minutes     Spot on sir :grimacing:

I know of one retail chain that paid £170k a piece for chilled deckers bit like the MOD they kept changing the spec. These weren’t just any trailers they were …

I can certainly believe the unit price tag. There might be a little bit of exagerration on the trailer for maximum press release effect I reckon.

Why would’nt You believe a tractor like that would cost 200k plus Harry? I think it was a reasonable price if not dare I say cheaper than I would have thought. It look smart, in fact all the Plantspeed gear I’ve seen looks well, I don’t know much about them but You can’t fault their equipment.

You see this is a corner of the market where a man needs to be, renewable energies etc, plenty of money to be had, I have taken the gearboxes to Denmark for refurb a time or two & believe Me the company did’nt seem shy in signing cheques for proper rates, these kind of firms want service thats second to none & will pay for it.

Good luck to Plantspeed theyve put their money where their mouth is.

Considering WhiteWhiteWhite says the list price on a 750 Scania is £150k, I reckon £200k for something of that size and complexity is believable!

Come on Harry, eat humble pie, say sorry…

Anything specialist and bespoke cost money, I’ve got quotes for racecar transporters, which are basically a box trailer with and office. You easily start seeing prices of £250,000+. Start adding pop-up decks and other extras and the price quickly heads towards £500,000. So £1million for that much engineering seems to be realistic.

Bear in mind, it’s a bit more than a trailer. It’s a huge collection of chassis and loadbed modules and any number of axles, all with hydraulic lift/steer/suspension systems.

We had one of RM Page’s driver’s in our yard a few weeks back, they are now owned by Plantspeed and he was talking about this outfit and was talking about those figures.

OK, I’ll stand corrected if folk in the know say these are the types of figures.
