Wouldn’t you just love to be a driver in the middle of that lot only to find that the bridge failed the test. 
The Millau bridge in France is high enough to give me the jitters.I try to cross it in the dark.
Particularly when you consider the most robust thing, made in China, is covid.

The Millau bridge has some clever looking spoilers mounted on the sides of it. They seem to be designed to smooth air flow over it. I havent heard of it being closed by high winds, but would think that someone has run the numbers and at a certain point it would be closed to traffic.
I’m not too bad with driving on bridges, but I suspect my adrenaline levels rise a bit when I cross that one. No real logic to it, you are probably just as dead falling 30 metres, as falling 300 metres, but there ya go.
Nothing much compares to the first run along the Autoroute Blanche for me, straight out the tunnel Chamoise onto the Nantua viaduct.
They’ve built that bridge. But over here we can’t even build a bridge from Scotland to northern Ireland which has been talked about on and off for years.
Sure I heard once they were going along tunnel option route instead.
Either way we’re never get it built
There is a lot written about various schemes and fixed crossing routes and options. The geology is not as “simple” as the Channel Tunnel. And economically there is not as much traffic crossing the Irish sea as the Channel.
Since Brexit, the Eire /France direct routes have expanded too dropping the “land-bridge” traffic.
Like many engineering works it is possible, but the politics and the money are not so certain.
