Nice bit of overtime for christmas

Well as of tomorrow I will have done the last of my overtime for this month which will clock around 92 hours overtime across three weeks. On top of my original 48 hour week.

First week clocking 36 hours overtime making a 84 hour week

Second week clocking 26 hours (Going from a 7-7 to a 9-9 probably wasn’t the best idea!) making that a 74 hour week

This week I’ll have done 30 hours overtime after tomorrow giving me a nice 78 hours in for this week.

For those who don’t know I’m on a 4 on 4 off system so the chance of getting a lot of overtime in such a short space of time is very easy (especially seeing as I didn’t get any in on the first week of this month) and working 7 days with 1 day off is not the most sensible thing I’ve ever done, but when we was told we can have as much (or as little) overtime as we want it was a blessing as well as a curse. But when the overtime sheet went on the notice board I was the first to put my times down (all 9 while 9). The curse being I knew I would be ■■■■■■ by the end of all the work done, the blessing being the money I earned on overtime in the first week I could afford to donate to St Leonard s Hospice in York (About £250 before tax) and still have a little more money besides

And yes I realize the hours i’ve done is probably not legal, and I know it’s not big nor clever but the reasons behind it are legit and as of tomorrow my task is completed. Not too fussed for opinions more sharing a sense of achievement for working that hard, and showing those who at the start of this year said I wouldn’t last a month in my current job.

And the question of the day for me, has overtime been available to be had the past month or so? Seems it’s getting that way for quite a few places getting busier than normal. Hope everyones doing okay!

Cheers

I’m on a steady 60 hours a week driving coach in Slough :sunglasses:

74 hours on a 4 on 4 off scenario - overtime…probably not legal  :open_mouth: :unamused: :unamused:

Well the last driver did 80 hours :unamused: didn’t put his card in until he’d worked 4 hours :unamused: :unamused: when will some learn.

The more you do the more they want…drivers will never get a decent wage for a modest 50/55hr week while there are hamptons like you doing 2 weeks UK average work time in 1 week :unamused:

For the record I don’t normally do these hours, and nor did I say it was big or clever. But I needed/wanted the money and I did what I had to to get that. The company didn’t stop me and it’s their responsibility as much as it is mine. I did it to suit me, not them. After the last lot of overtime that was all I would be doing for them overtime wise. They can ask me to do more, but the answer will simply be no. And for the record I work in a warehouse at the moment not drive a lorry, and no I’m not making a habit of working long hours and knackering myself out. It’s not worth it especially for the money I’m on. It goes to show apprenticeships aren’t all what they’re made upto be, and companies as big as the one i work for can and will abuse the system. I for one just used it to my advantage when I needed it.

Why wouldn’t it be legal if you were not driving? The only laws there are, minimum of 9hrs (11 for night workers) away from work between shifts and breaks every 6hrs of 20mins you can work 337 days a year straight through if it’s what you want to do.

8 hours a day and that’s to many but I do have to go Monday to Friday
