Nibbles whilst driving

What do you munch on when driving ? Chewing gum, wine gums, mints, bon- bons, foxs glacier mints, etc , I usually buy a big bag a week like the sort you see in most filling station shops and try to limit my intake and never scoff chocolate. Probably coconut mushrooms are my favourite to munch on.

any food products within reach
my lunchbox is usally empty after a couple of hours driving

Bar of dairy milk. Flavoured water (you don’t feel crap after drinking 2L), baguette and that’ll do.

I’m trying to cut down but recently I’ve been doing a lot of long distance stuff on incredibly boring motorways so I can’t help but scoff.

If I know I’m going to be mile crunching I normally get a bag of grapes, a couple of bananas and oranges, that generally keeps me going and away from the chocolate.

Carrot batons from tesco’s healthy plus help you see in the dark

Eating all that fruit keeps you going in more ways than one i expect

Plums are my main choice of on the road munchies, no packaging, healthy and provide a bit of liquid as well as staving off hunger, in a few years there’ll be a plum orchard stretching from Stoke to Aberdeen

Other than that a couple of breakfast bars (I semi-unwrap them and break them into bits before I set off) on my 45 I usually have a filled roll and banana with a milkshake or soup.

I actually feel a bit lost if there’s nothing in the cab to nibble on, it doesn’t have to be filling just a bag of mints or something will do.

NUTS!

Nuts are for me. the salty taste gets me in the mood for a coffee

Tend to buy sweets & chewing gum if i’m trying to cut down what I eat chocolate & pie wise.

This week I bought a bag of bassets mint selection, the one with murray mints, mint toffee and everton mints, jolly nice they were too. Tried some of those fruity sours as well.

They were doing a buy one get one free of them little round tins with the hard sweets in so I caved and got 2 of them as well.

I also like the bags of choozers but they are moreish and you end up feeling high after doing a bag of those.

The dessert fruit all sorts were nice but I don’t think they do them anymore.

Pistachios and chewing gum…not at the same time tho

Chewing gum. Loads of.

Tunnocks teacakes , tunocks wafer biscuits ,shortbread ,sandwiches on a long haul .

Used to be wine gums or peanuts.

Best thing I done was go onto fridge work. When I was on for Heritage, we used to get loads of bananas, pineapples grapes etc when we were loading / tipping. Much better than the sugary crap i used to shovel in!

Even better than that was coming off the road all together. Lost 2 stone when I stopped driving!

When I was driving I ate most of my snap box contents before 8 am. mainly through boredom!

When I’m a passenger I just nibble my fingernails…

Pete.

Dried fruit pieces. Usually mango, banana or pineapple. Also almonds or if I fancy a change I munch on a tub of olives :sunglasses:

i usually make my packed lunch last me all day,but occaisionally i treat myself to a bar of chocolate or a cake or something in the afternoon.

After doing a quick visual check for police helicopters I light the gas stove, put on a frying pan and make myself a decent fry up. Not really much of an issue with an automatic truck, cruise control on, one hand on the wheel and the other hand on the pan. Its better than a pack of nuts or a mars bar any day.

jaffa cakes but you must eat them all at once it’s the law.
