LOL. That’s exactly the first thing I thought of!!
You must have a warped sense of humour like me then I imagine.

How times change…i was made redundant some yrs back about 18yrs ago , i did a stint at NFT Alfreton…no assesment bollox, whats it all about these days ? no trust in drivers ? are we all idiots ?.. i did afters and nights , i was interviewed , asked for my licence , any referances i had, and got called the next day asking me if i wanted a start, it seems that there are a lot of hoops to jump through now before you even get an offer, good luck to the op anyway.

I swear this is true. I turned into work one day at Crick NFT and someone from the traffic desk was sat in the coffee room showing a driver where to write his name on a tacho chart , and how to fill the rest of it in
I did a couple of agency shifts at NFT Alfreton on the fridges, usual site induction and told about no blindside park policy on return.
Not a bad crack really good shift length and decent ish kit. A good few trailer swaps and some tight single bay drops but overall pretty much left alone.
Lifes like a box of chocolates as someone said…you never know what your going to get, I think the alarm bells would have been going at that point Mike…some of the best workers cant read or write…i know a lad who’s a fitter top man with engines etc…but cant string a sentence together…but also its if your face fits ? .
I work for nft (for agency for 4 years and left and now full time) and what time you start is the key to what jobs you get. I average 10-12 hours a day and it’s not hard work at all, if you get in the back to load or tip twice a week you’ve had a busy week. Office staff are ok and so are the suits, if you need a early finish they’ll sort you out if you tell them the day before or likewise if you want more hours. We do goto some places that are comical to get on bays but if your reversing is a bit shaky before you know it you’ll have it down. I’ve gone to a few places and thought I’m never getting on that bay or in that yard and I’ve got it in and loaded.
Old workmate of mine works out of Daventry, enjoys the work, pretty well left alone so long as you get on with the job.
He’s changed shifts a couple of times, like any job you might have to accept shifts you don’t particularly want tp get your feet under the table.
Money isn’t the greatest but it enough to pay his mortgage and bills and he sleeps in his own bed every night, he’s not looking to move on, unless something very good turns up.

I don’t know if he still is cos I have lost touch over the past 5 years, but one of my dearest friends was the general manager there.
Pm sent, OllieNotts
just to update, I got offered the job , however for various reasons chose not to accept it . Nothing against NFT but there were a few things that came to light that rang alarm bells and I also would not be able to work part time on the rock and roll tours , which is something I’m looking to do more of . Thanks to all for the replies though .

NFTs pay rate is the most complicated thing ever, I work there and I’d be hard pressed to explain it. It’s 10.28 an hour, plus you get bonus for hours worked before 6am and after 8pm, you also get weekend shift bonus. There’s 3 types of shifts 4 on 4 off, sun to thurs, tues to Sat. I average around 50 hours a week and when I hear what Fowlers and Stobbies earn and the amount of people that leave and then try and get their jobs back is funny. This is the first time in ages that nft have taken on and who knows when they’ll recruit again ( they want rid of agency).
I’d apply, go for the interview, if it’s not for you what have you lost. With the next wave of euros turning up in January I wouldn’t want to be on the agency come February.
