NEXT Chancellor please!

Narc:
We now have the full remain team in place to solidify my original theory that we never left the EU and the entire pantomime that is British Politics has now come full circle, give it three months and we shall have a General election and a key aspect of that will be Labour offering fresh talks to rejoin the club we never left in the first place, and more of our money will be surrendered to complete the task. Leaving us further worse off and crippled by inferior leaders like Lizz Wuss And Jeremy C I mean Hunt.
What a load of drivel this new politics soap opera really is.

Woeful times.

Michael helseltine said , once Boris goes brexit goes .

As off today I’ve watched a lot of it , voting for labour I was hoping to hear some positive stuff , what they would do . Que Emily thornberry asked whatlabour would do , mmmm well mmmm we don’t know because we don’t know what this disastrous government are going to do , but Emily your party is in election mode , you must have some polices ready , mmmmmm we need to grow the economy , mmmmm
Even the mrs who has zero interest in politics said isn’t this what that women truss said she’s doing , I’ll still vote labour but I’m not hopeful

Positives of the last few years are Boris earnt 150,000 from doing one speech in Canada the other night , apparently he will earn millions on the speech circuit , then there’s his books etc

Juddian:
This is all about getting Sunak installed as PM, the mps are acting like a bunch of schoolkids ganging up on the present pm to oust her.
The con party members voted the wrong way, the fake tory MPs wanted Sunak and the banking cartel who own the tories want one of their own in the seat.
I reckon by Christmas they’ll have got rid of Truss and got their way with fishy installed as pm.

many here should be glad, another couple of years at most once labour is in we’ll more than likely buy our way back into the EU which we never really left anyway because too many of the tory mps generally arn’t conservative but social democrats who would be right at home in a Blair led labour party, the tories won’t want to be seen to rejoin under a tory govt but will be quietly overjoyed at labour taking us back in, your dream will come true yet Franglais.

what a mess this country is in.

Hopefully we do end up back in Europe , I loved watching those videos of farage, verhophstat , Tusk going at it , have a watch of the old girl Ann widowcombe going off on one ha ha

Truss has said she wants to grow the economy, most politicians want that.

Truss said that cutting taxes for the wealthy would grow the economy. That hasn`t worked in the past, and apart from a few nutters, no-one thinks that it would work now.

As a free marketeer Truss says “let the market decide”, the money market has decided she is a fool.

Surprised he got out of bed for that.

Over ten years ago Johnson described the £250,000 he was getting from his Torygraph part-time job, as “Chickenfeed”.

That was for writing a column of course, the pay would in no way, have bought influence for the papers owners with a serving politician.

That we should never have left the EU, was, is, and remains my position. Hardly a surprise.

I cant see any way they would let us in anytime soon, under any sort of sensible conditions. I think we will rejoin sometime, but it wont be for a while. Joining the customs union would be easier, and cut many of the costs for business *so we can grow the economy*, and could be done sooner. Mind you since we still havent kept up our side of the “oven ready” exit agreement, why would the EU trust us?

Weve given the keys to a bunch of idiots. They have entered "Perfect World" into the sat-nav, and set off. Having driven down a narrow lane they realise the mistake and make a U-turn. The truck gets bogged, and has to be dragged out, and sets off again. Maybe it is heading back to the tarmac road (the one signed "Real World") but it is already scratched, dented, low on fuel , andpaid out the thousands for recovery. I reckon that the engine hasnt been wrecked yet… but a lot of damage has been done already, We still arent heading the right way, we just arent going the wrong way quite as fast, but there is still one of the zealots (Im right my sat-nav cant be wrong!) at the wheel.

The Tories have still got some decent people there, but the minority (tax payer funded) ERG has enormous power inside the party.

Franglais:
Truss just had a press conference, and answered questions afterwards.
All the questions were answered without much hesitation or stumbling. Well done Liz.

Maybe next time though, don`t repeat exactly the same words, to the different questions?

NEXT PM please!

It’s like she’s researched for a job interview but then gets asked a completely different question to what she’s been researching so she just cracks on with her original planned answer.

General election now.

Interesting point.
Truss is a member of the same party that was voted in on the Tory manifesto.
If she stuck to that manifesto it is arguable that there is no need for an election. There is also an argument against that…
BUT…
Since her chosen economic path seems to be off at a tangent to that manifesto, there is an increased need to ask the country what it thinks.

Personally I say get her out before the ERG cabal supporting her position, and pulling her strings, do any more long term damage to our country.
Truss isn`t in control. She is in a weak position and beholden to the right wing nutters in her party.
The ERG tail and their sponsors, are wagging the Tory dog.

Whilst its true i am conservative at heart (i belive in conserving things) the tory party hasn’t been conservative in any way since the Thatcher years, and i have very mixed feelings about those anyway, i’ve not really got any horse in politics now because no parties apart from minor ones of usually patriotic bent have represented my beliefs in any way, basically i hold no brief for any of the current parties and haven’t for decades.

I’ll agree with you on a lot Franglais, in that whilst the Blair/Brown version of nulabour might have been not great for the country they didn’t destroy the place in quite the specatular way the tories have, apart from opening the doors to mass immigration and flogging off the nations gold reserves they didn’t actually ruin the country with massive unpayable debt ike the tories have.
The tories have been promising to cut immigration for 12 years to tens of thousands from the still increasing hundreds of thousands every year, they can’t even keep our borders safe from invaders in inflatable boats on the south coast indeed ferrying them in using our lifeboats and border farce, yet feel justified in pontificating and threatening a world power like Russia, if it wasn’t so tragic it would be laughable but i have a nasty feeling any amusement is about to come to a crashing end if the idiots don’t negitiate an end soon the whoel of civilisation could be coming to a violent end if some demented fool prersses the nuke button.

Where people are going wrong is making out as if the last 4 weeks is causing the ruination of the country, it’s been a no brakes runaway juggernaut of ridiculous borrowing quantitive easing (money printing with nothing to back it up) and ever larger state since Cameron the Vanished became PM, the next 2 PMs just as much to blame as him.
The economy has been run since on virtually free money, intererest rates held artificially low (doesn’t help when globalists run the BoE) and relying on ever increasing house prices as a measure of the success or not of the economy, what else was there, we didn’t make anything to sell abroad bar a few cars the makers of which are all foreign owned.

Well we’ve finally come up against the wall, and Truss was daft enough to join the game of musical chairs the prize of which was leader of the fake tory party, note sensible solid people like JRM wasn’t daft enough to try for this poisoned chalice.

Anyone could be forgiven for thinking some lunatic full socialist/commy dictatorship had been in power the last 12 years, we’ve had ever bigger state, the state now the biggest threat to our dying eceonomy and the highest taxation since the world wars and national debt quadrupled if not quintupled to an obscene amount just as interest rates are taking off, brilliant, all under a party that claims to be conservative.

You are wrong about who’s pulling the strings, it isn’t the right of the party, thats a handful of increasingly irrelevent sidelined back benchers, those causing the trouble are the banker class who serving their kind want their chap, Sunak, installed to complete their work, conservative they aint.

What i can’t fathom is why i give a toss anymore when its blindingly clear its all over bar the shouting and recriminations, the UK and most of the west have self destructed because they really thought the milk and honey were free, i have no horse in this farce, i will not vote again until there’s someone worth voting for and the chances are i’ll be dead by then, so why am i bothered, i’ve tried to ignore it all, haven’t watched live telly for over a decade haven’t read a newspaper for well over 3 decades, maybe drink is the answer after all.

The ERG are, it seems to me, on the right wing of the Tory party, and they hold disproportionate power.
They take public money, but their main sponsors and their masters are globalists. They really are about making money anywhere, and paying tax nowhere. No patriotism or allegiance to anywhere.

JRM is another point of disagreement. He says many things, but his actions go in other directions.
I did find this comment from the respected editor of the F.T. about his economic analysis entertaining:

It was $350,000 for a speech in the USA.
(And we all know now that’s as near as dammit worth £350k)

Off topic slightly …
I know these forums are based on user names incognito etc, but I have a couple of personal question to ask you Franglais, without any king of intention of causing upset or harm, and with all due respect.
Are you English? A recent immigrant? Or do you live abroad?
Do you even like England? Or are you Irish or Scottish?

Just FYI Comrade ,I am of Yorkshire heritage going back many generations, but now live in the midlands where most of the councils are Labour run,and vast areas or council owned land and business’s are being sold off by them, for what seems to be student digs or huge housing estates on ex green belt areas. Even shoving in pigeon huts in areas once classed as parkland and lots of public use areas are now gone. You cannot put an extension up without jumping through hoops etc,but these labour run councils are putting up huge monstrosities all over the midlands?
I mentioned the last bit as none of these parties give a toss about any of us at all …

With respect, I dont care if you are from Yorkshire, or Timbuktu, nor what clothes you wear or much anything else. I *try* to take posts made on the forum as stand alone comments. Some people here I agree with strongly on some subjects and disagree with on others. Knowing someones background is often more of a distraction to what they are saying than a help.

But since I am now semi-retired from truck driving I have found an agreeable way to pursue a long term interest.
Mrs S. is my first client, here she is describing me to Mr S.

Thank you for answering the question without even directly answering it.

The elite, the super wealthy, the establishment represented by the mainstream media are tightening their grip on power. The ordinary man in the street may be given a vote now and again,as you would chuck a bone to a dog, just as a sop.A referendum such as the brexit vote will never happen again because “they” have no understanding or interest in the lower echelons of society.Apart from anything else which political party would you vote for if there were an election today. We need another party with new ideas to represent the working classes.Yes,I know.Naive in the extreme.

If I may interupt:

Car Crash Innit
Hunt has given to-day`s modified version of the mini* budget. Mostly back to square one…but worse.

Having said it was brought out quickly because of fuel costs, the fuel price “cap” is now being limited to just 6 months.

The drop in basic tax from 20% to 19% has been dropped. That wasn`t in fact a new idea of Kwarteng, but was him bringing forward an already planned decrease. Well, that seems totally dead now.

Even if the Chancellor tries to drive us back to where we were, the economy has already been damaged and is costing the country and individuals dearly.
The car left the road and crashed, even if it gets back on the road, it has lost fuel, has broken panels, and is ■■■■■■■ steam out of the radiator.

  • Mini = massive

ED to add
And it seems that Truss has something more important to do, rather than come to The House this afternoon, to answer questions.
