Newly qualified driver and I've now got an sp50.. (3 points)

philgor:
Are you sure it was a speed camera, and not and average speed camera?

If he was flashed then it wasn’t a average speed camera. There is an average speed camera at the exit with the M18 at the start of the roadworks heading towards Sheffield, not sure that gantry is working though.

Stop panicking 3 points is nothing to panic about, first offence is usually 3 points or an awareness course

SAC will only be offered in place of points if its the first offence and 10% +9mph over the limit, 50mph+10%=55mph+9mph= 64mph.
,

Don’t worry until 9 points pal

You might want to check the speed limit for vans. Unless the van is ‘car-derived’ you might find the limit is not the same as cars, and your motorway limit may be only 60mph. Makes no difference in this instance, but worth checking the rules for the future.

Isnt the limit 70 on the motorway for all vans though? I thought only non car derived vans were limited to 60 on dual carriageways in the UK

Goods vehicles (not more than 7.5 tonnes maximum laden weight motorway limit is 70 (112) but 60 (96) if articulated or towing a trailer.
Only 60 mph on dual carriageway, where car-derived van limit is 70mph.

join the club chap,we have all had it at one time or another[thankfully not for a few years now, touch wood]

A speed camera flash doesn’t always mean your going to ticketed. But try changing your mindset a bit, being late is unavoidable at times just enjoy it, increasing ones speed will have little effect.

In the end all you have to do is say “sorry I’m late” and all is fine.

Easier said than done but remove that aspect from the job and just plod along.

I’m late a lot.

Hi weve all been flashed at some point dont worry too much about 3 points
as its your employers vehicle you were driving they have upto 3 monthe to get a nip to you from the day it happened

The van is restricted to 70mph!!

Most vans under 7.5 tonnes laden (loaded) weight, including Ford Transit vans:

  1. must follow the speed limits for goods vehicles of the same weight

Hope it wasn’t laden.

Chances are you’ll hear nothing. Even if you do it shouldn’t be a problem with regards to work mate.

Hi.

Somewhat of a late reply here mate but you were correct. Its being 5 weeks now and I’ve not heard a thing back regarding the speeding ticket. The old place I used to work haven’t contacted me regarding any ticket at all. So I hope ( touch wood ) I hear no more about it
