Just recently passed my class 2 . Now on the job hunting mission. Got an interview and driving assesment for Patersons Quarries via agency accepting new-pass drivers.
Got interview coming up soon . If I am successful I would be shadowing an experienced guy for a week.
Congrats pal, and best of luck on the tippers!
And talking about tippers, muckaway on the main forum is a very helpful tipper & machine driver, so follow what he’s got to say.
Even ask a few questions…
I am going for work at Fishers Laundry in Cupar. The tipper work is not gauranteed and I have just bought a new house and need full time permanent work.
I was with Fishers for four years, it definitely is physically demanding work.
Most drops are bags rather than cages and you can be barrowing or carrying them a fair distance from the truck to the laundry room, which may be upstairs.
And of course you are collecting used linen as well as delivering clean.
Other than being physical its fairly easy as you just have to count bags and there isn’t much paperwork compared to the likes of foodservice jobs and there’s no cash to collect.
It seems a bit daunting at first but after a day or so u get into the swing of things .went to Glasgow first day but now got my own run to Edinburgh twice a day…all cages. Some runs r easy apparently. .I’m back in Tuesday 5am …might c u about
We start at Prestonhall and pick up/drop at Riggs (in cupar) too. I have a twice daily run to Edinburgh. Hope the Forth Road Bridge will be open to Trucks soon!!!
Fishers laundry - My last day is Sunday 8th May although I am not out working. Just as well I have class 1 agency work lined up even if it is a long commute to work.
