I offered a bloke 50k for a 620 two weeks ago, was an 07 plate with 880k kms on it, he turned me down. Bugger it, the new ones will be out soon.
Its no secret I love them but how they continue to fetch such silly money is beyond me! I owned an R112 years ago and a bloke wanted to buy it for some reason and about 3 years later he did, also for silly money at the time thankfully!
They seem to be the self-fulfilling prophecy. People keep buying them at silly, so people sell em at silly.
My gaffer looked at all makes for my new truck, but went Scania again for 2 reasons, one ours other wagons are all Scanias and tried and tested.
But second and most important, even though Scania was the most expensive, it’s projected resale was more than enough to balance the difference.
The resale is always key. They attract about a 40% premium over rivals at new, but that ends up being 60% at the resale. The rocking horse year old one is the kiddie, as you save a bit on the price of a new one. They’re pretty indestructible too. I read about wilsons v8s in commercial motor, 1.6 million one was on, without a rebuild. His tip was regular oil changes. And they do heavy stuff, so it shows what they’re all about

my07 r480 is on 1.2m same paint from new and same engine/box and 04 164 580 is on 1.5m same engine and box
Considering the 620 is without a question Scanias best engine ever built and will probably not be beaten due to e6 emission crap today it’s no wonder they fetch high prices. 730 is to complicated in comparison when you get the higher milage.
The company I work for has 14th 620 oldest well over a million km and only thing that’s gone wrong with them are some injectors on a couple of trucks. And a lot of tem are tuned to, we run Norway with gross weights 45-60t
50k for an 08 620 with 800km on it!!!
If you fancy a 500, 57 or 63 plate I’m yer man…
As ma Boswell would say…sell it!
