STAY CLEAR of this company, I went to work for this company In feb this year, on the understanding of a said hourly rate based on a said amount of hours at the interview stage, I accepted the job, only to find 3 days later that the package was a complete and utter lie, so I said my goodbyes and left with an excuse of a better offer elsewhere, its now 6 weeks later and have not received payment or p45 for that work, however this said company have now refused to reply to phone call, messages or email requests to recover monies owed to me, the guy that runs this place at wakefield is the same guy that ran reed boardall
Hi,
I have heard a few reports from these, can I ask what they promised and what you got ?
Legally they have to supply your P45,ring the relevant authorities.

So, you’ve started with a company, stayed 3 days then decided it wasn’t for you and walked. Now you want to be paid for the work. How much do you think it cost the company to advertise, interview an set on a new employee? Surprised the company don’t charge you for wasting their time!
Why shouldn’t if paid? They paid a different rate to what had been offered, which in anybody’s book is wrong. I’d have walked as well.

+1
Unless there was a “probationary rate” which sometimes happens
Can i ask what you were promised as a friend of a friend works there he is on 11 pound an hour for for first 40 not sure what it is after that. One of the better payers around rather area

A better, and smarter thing to do would be say after a couple of days that the promised pay doesn’t reflect reality. Thus giving both parties time to agree. Walking after just three days is not really giving a job a go.

I’ve seen it all now, someone justifying a company knocking a fella for the work he’s done
The fella done the work and is entitles to his money, it ain’t a lot to ask for. You might be the type to hang around and work for something which was different to originally agreed but the OP obviously ain’t and fair play to him for standing his ground and not having the ■■■■ taken out of him

That’s my point. He didn’t 'stand his ground '. He made some lame excuse that he’d found something better and walked off the job. If he’d confronted the company and mentioned that what he’s getting paid didn’t reflect what was promised that’s a different matter. But after 3 days, one of which would have been ‘learning the ropes’, was that giving it a fair crack of the whip?
There are better ways to conduct yourself in a professional environment - especially if to want to get paid !
This place is very local to me,and when jobs became available the money seemed very good for the area, sounds like it was too good to be true…

I saw them advertising a couple of weeks ago. Think it was advertised at £11ph, 48hr contract?
double post
Issue of P45 is a legal requirement - pointing this out to them may just provide the necessary kick up the bum that they need to prod them into action.
Citizens Advice have a useful info sheet on their website that covers this situation:

It could help to know exactly what was different than to what was promised in the interview. But I also think that you did the work, you deserve to be paid, it’s as simple as that. The company took the risk by employing you, if you pack-in after three days, it’s an error of their judgement, you still did the work and should be paid.
I was in a similar position, but I left after four days. The reason being at the interview, they said they’d pay for all nights out (They didn’t, they didn’t pay you if you were so close to your depot, the said you could get back and go home, even if your hours were out and nobody would pick you or your lorry up), and they said they’d pay expenses (they didn’t, and they didn’t pay for parking). What they didn’t mention at the interview, was that you’d get back to your home depot with 15 minutes left on your card, and rather than them send you home to return in the morning after your rest, they’d load you up, and send you out to get as far as you can in 15 minutes, having a night-out just a few miles from your home. The manager kicked-off why I wouldn’t do it, and that was that, it just wasn’t worth £8.70 an hour.
I knew I was going to pack-in at the beginning of day four, as I had a run-in with the manager regarding working and rest time, but I completed all of my drops in that day, and gave the management a bit of a sob story. They paid me, but on my first day I went with another driver, but I drove all day, and I noticed that they paid me a reduced rate for that.
He did stand his ground IMO, if he didn’t stand his ground he would still be there working for a company who had told him a jackanory about the T&C’s

if this was recently, why don’t you name the company, to warn others ?.

Standing ground = walking out without explaining the real reason and lying why they’ve left.
OR
Standing ground = explain to whomever why job was mis-sold and why they are leaving.
Cant work this one out.
You take the job but leave after 3 days citing pay differences from the interview. But at this point you would not have been paid so how would you know what the differences were?
Surely once you were paid, the differences would have been clear?
Ken.

He might have asked other drivers what they were being paid, when told less than he’s agreed I assume he then asked about his pay rate and was then told another story and jacked it…something along those lines
