Newbie - Rigid Questions

Hi All,

Haven’t been on here since 2008…wow!

I’m re-considering stepping up in driving to bigger vehicles, don’t particularly want artic at this stage but thinking of doing C (Skipping C1 to open more opportunities)

Is the driver CPC relevant to C1/C/C+E or just C and C+E ?

Trying to guage total cost before i start!

Also, when applying for the provisional, do i need to apply to the C provisional and then digi card, or do i apply for both, or do i apply for C, then pass, then digi card?

Hopefully that all makes sense!

Thanks

Rob

The driver cpc is for all commercially driven goods vehicles which includes C1. As for the card, you can apply now.

But if you already hold a C1 having passed your car test prior to 1997, you have driver cpc on acquired (grandfather) rights until Sept 2014. If this is the case, you need do nothing immediately but you must complete 35 hours of periodic training before Sept 2014.

Hope this makes sense, Pete

When did you pass your car test ? - that will make a difference in what you need to do re driver cpc

D4 form Medical - if you pay more than about £50 consider yourself ripped off

D2 provisional form - Tick C and D only - that covers you medically for PCV should you ever want to do that in the future and does not confuse the numpties at DVLA too much !!

As you mentioned C1, I am going to assume you passed car test after 1996 so in that case you will need to pass these modules to be able to drive LGVs commercially …
1a - theory
1b - HPT
2 - dcpc theory
3 - practical road drive + reverse etc
4 - practical dcpc

NEVER PAY ANY MONEY FOR TRAINING UNTIL YOU HAVE VISITED THE SCHOOL

Thanks all,

I passed in '06 so don’t get the inherited bits I’ve heard mentioned :frowning:

Wouldn’t of though i would need to do HPT again? Or is it different to the car HPT ?

Will check out the link in your sig!

You will have to do the HPT again, the only difference is 5 more clips and a slightly higher pass mark.
