On the whole, i’m OK with the differentiation between the WTD regs and the driver regs and I do understand when i need to take breaks and how long for.
but …
say if your on a multi-drop route with a lot of drops where drops can range from a few minutes to a while ( if your having to wait for a recipient ) , how do you realistically measure your driving time with an analogue tacho ? I’ve read on the digi tacho tips that you can press an arrow key and it’ll show you your current status of amassed driving time and i was told it’ll prompt you if you go over, but what about an analogue one. How do you guys do it ? Do you actively measure it or just think that its roughly time for a rest and that’ll do " time for tea" ?
On the point about waiting for a recipient, can you then call that rest time? For example, i pulled up to the back ofa warehouse and new i would be there a while ( more than 15 mins ) before anyone go to me… can you call that rest as long as you dont do anything in that 15 mins ?
Secondly, i’ve just started out and am with an agency to get experience which is fine. To date, its been analogue tachos, but given the holidays, i’ve certainly not been working every day. In the 1st week i worked 3 days, and last week, 2 days. On the non-working days, i did no work so to speak.
do i have to record anything on those non-working days ? Do i have to fill in spare tacho discs ?

Various methods are used. Pen and paper, stopwatch, kitchen timer thingy or one of the devices available for keeping track of your working time.

Yes, indeed you can.

No you don’t. You would only need to fill discs in for days you worked but did no driving.
