Newbie looking for some help

Hi anyone had any dealings with HGV training network before?
Iv looked and looked about and emailed so many agencies and been given wildly so many different prices my heads about to burst…

Should I go with an agency or do it all on my own??

But if I go out on my own am worried that I won’t get any interviews!

Cheers
Ross

I believe they are a London based agency but I would be doing my training with gtg in Edinburgh.
They are saying they can get me everything I need to get my class C cost 1499 plus 500 for my CPC.

Aahhh…thought they rang a bell. I contacted them a while back and they quoted me about the same (give or take). I actually did my class 1 with GTG in Glasgow and dealt directly with them for a lot less. Can remember exact exact figures as I used an ILA as well which gave me 200 funding, but was around 1100 or 1200 before taking that off. They also gave me 4 dcpc modules for 80 quid which I did during my training. I think you should price these things direct and try get the money rather than use these guys…they’re sharks!

Just found invoice emailed to me…total including 4 modules was £1261

Looking at their website it seems to say that they have their own training school in Northampton but also act as a broker for other schools

My advice - never pay anything until you have been to the school and had a face to face chat

Don’t think this will mean much but GTG is owned and part of the Arnold Clark group…

I believe LGV Training Network are a broker, you’d do much better to check the training companies in your area and if you find a good one go direct to them.

I don’t know what you mean by “if I go out on my own am worried that I won’t get any interviews”, most brokers are full of BS, they may or may not get you an interview but that’s not the same as getting a job is it.

You say they will put you with GTG in Edinburgh, I’ve no idea who they are but I’m sure someone on this site will be able to recommend a training company in your area.

By the way, when people on this site talk about agencies they’re generally referring to employment agencies not training brokers

Go direct because it’s far cheaper. My mate used one of them services and regretted it.

I wouldn’t bother with brokers too many horror stories regarding the broker disappearing scamming money and doing the absolute minimum just look up other brokers for reviews and pay attention to the 1 star reviews

Wouldn’t worry about getting an interview plenty of opportunity’s for hgv drivers there are more Hgv apprenticeships popping up about if you look on the job boards.
