Newbie in somerset

hey guys got recomended this forum by a fellow trucker.
my name is joe im 26 and live in somerset.
have wanted to become a lorry driver from a young age if its bit and moves i wanted to drive it . i hit the internet to find a local training company to do my test with. did my training last week and had my test on friday . i passed first time with only 2 minors.i did my test in a scania.loved every minute of it. and cant wait to get out there. just need to get my cpc sorted and get a job .

here is what i drove for my test

Welcome & well done

Bit curious as to why you did not do the intial cpc theory module 2 when you took the other theory tests ?

Had you done so then could you have done the mod 4 practical test during your on-road practical training ?

That would have been a cheaper way because now you will probably have to pay £200+ for the mod 4 instead of £55

I was laid off before my test so didn’t wanna pay out for something just incase I failed my test as would need what money I had left to pay for my retest.

I am doing my CPc with my instructor who’s is doing the mod 4 for £50 so it’s not to bad. Oh and 70 to hire the lorry for the test. Just gotta do mod 2 then can book it in. But as said As im jobless ATM its hard to pull £200 from nothing lol.

My digi card is on order

Thats a good price for mod 4 = around £120 - many pay much more !!

Yh. And have to pay for mod 2 on top of that.think that’s bout £50.

The company I used to book my cat c course wanted 300 and they would of just sent me to the same trainer I will use as that’s what they did for my driving test. They made out they were big and had there own trucks and turns out they have a small office . You book thru them then they sub yr test out .

I think mod 2 theory is £35

Seems like you managed to steer clear of a broker

Got caught with a broker in the first place and paid £1100 for my cat c. When speaking to my instructor he said he could of done it for £750 ish.
Will go direct for my c+e and my CPc training.

Have to wear glasses now tho as failed my medical on my eyes. They cost me £200 but needed em even for car as my eyes where bad.

Congrats on the very good pass. But, TBH, I cant get over the state of that truck!

Pete

Yh I don’t think it gets cleaned much. The inside was fairly dirty to. I’m a bit OCD when it comes to my car. When I get a job if I’m given my own truck it will be kept in a good clean condition.

Hi. Well done. Good score on the test. Agreed with Pete that truck looks a state. It looks like an ex Keedwell Truck.

BTW I live North Somerset. If you need any local info, give us a PM.

Dean

Thanks will bear that in mind fella

Joes, was the photo taken at Marston Trading Estate, Frome or Westbury Trading estate?

Arla foods are a good firm to be with when you get on the road.

Anyone with a clean truck this time of year isn’t busy enough.

Looks like the cafe on Marsh Barton in Exeter to me.

Anyone with a clean truck this time of year isn’t busy enough

… or makes the effort to maintain a good image.

This is what brokers feed on young keyboard warriors like yourself then when it dont work out come crying as many have done in the past hope you have now learnt from it

Well done on the pass good luck finding work then gaining your CE but please dont make the same mistake with brokers again & dont go for the cheapest have a good luck round 1st before parting with any money

I almost got rid of another 300 as they kept badgering me to take pass plus which is a gaurenteed pass. Basically have a second test booked ready if you fail. I said no 8 times but they still phoned once a week lol.

Gonna do my c+e with the instructor who taught me my cat c . Gonna go direct to him this time thou. Bout £800 . Doing my CPc with him also for bout 170
