Hi
Just wanted to know the best way to get into lorry driving as im wanting a new career and this is something ive looked into doing, im 23 from east anglia and would some tips ■■
Find firms that offer apprentice schemes, they pay for your training, and welcome to Trucknet, any questions just ask away.
It takes a while to learn all the rules and tacho regulations, then the health and safety at load points can you drive you mad.
Food at truck stops has improved a lot, healthy options.
Ladies are welcome in the haulage industry and you are treated no differently.
You cant beat the open road, paid to listen to the radio.
Contact a reliable and reputable driving school. You can find the list of DVSA LGV Accredited Schools here: dft.gov.uk/fyn/lgv.php
You will notice there are remarkably few. This is because one of the many requirements is to employ DVSA Registered LGV instructors. The majority of instructors do not hold this qualification as it isn’t a legal requirement. They also have to provide a correctly marked, private, reversing area. Many trainers cannot do this.
This doesn’t mean to say that an unqualified trainer is automatically bad - far from it. But it makes your job a lot harder in sorting out the good from the bad.
We offer residential training courses and one of our staff will be happy to talk you through the whole procedure and make all necessary arrangements. BTW, you also get 10% Trucknet discount.
Hope this helps, Pete
whereabouts in east anglia are you? i have recently passed C and C+E so might be of some help hopefully
