Newb saying hi and other advice

Hey guys,

This is my first post but I have been lurking for a while and have to say the information here is excellent for anyone who is taking the first steps to become a truck driver, which should put me in good stead for when I come to do my C hopefully early next year.

The advice I’m after concerns a friend of mine from work however. He is European and holds the equivalent of a Class C in his own country. He is currently in the process of transfering his licence to a UK one and applying for his digi tacho. Seeing as he passed in 2007 (albeit in a different country) will he still have grandfather rights regarding the CPC or will he need to do an initial CPC the same as anyone who passed the UK test after Sept '09?

Hi. This is my understanding and may not be absolutely correct.

As the guy’s licence is EU and is valid here, then as the EU have also given grandfather rights, then surely that will also be valid here.

The check for driver cpc entitlement is done from the pass date of the CAT C. So it must be OK. Also if he does his 35 hours, his card will expire Sept 2019.

I don’t see any problem - but I’m only using logic - so I could be wrong.
