Hi guys my names rich I’m 23 years old I’m from newport in south Wales, originally from Manchester I really love trucks I’ve basically been braught up around them as my dad R.I.P, used to drive for tankfrieght on the shell chemicals contract that’s also why I love Volvo fl10’s i know most of you would say they wernt the best wagon but i love them! So if anyone has any tankfrieght photos I’d love to see them also volvo fl10’s even if there not in shell chemicals livery! :stuck_out_tongue: won’t be long till I’m in the driving seat.

Hi shell_chemFL10,

shell_chemFL10:
my dad R.I.P, used to drive for tankfrieght on the shell chemicals contract that’s also why I love Volvo fl10’s

I remember Tankfreight mate.
I was on Propane out of Stanlow, so it’s even possible that I might have met your Dad at some point.

I wouldn’t mate, cos they were a handy and reliable truck in their day.
LGV driving schools used FL10s too, so they can’t have been that bad!!
The only downside I found with them was that you needed a mountaineering course so that you could get from the driving seat to the bed. :grimacing:

As already suggested, you could try the Photo Forum, and I’d add that you might have a look in the Old Time forum too. If you use the search facility in either of those forums, you’ll turn up some pics and stories.

I think I can only remember one driver from Tankfreight, his name was Ian and IIRC he was the union shop-steward.
He’s quite a big guy and usually came to work in transit van plastered with stickers to do with motorcycle (grass-track??) racing.

Thanks for a warm welcome guys (and gals) I have been checking the photo forum but theres so many! Plus I got caught up looking at scanias, anyway you may of met him Dave his name was john vaughan if that rings any bells? I think my dads depo was at urmston not too sure cause i was quite young but i remember the fl10’s and ERF E10/14’s very well I know what you mean about getting in the bed HUGE engine hump! I keep looking it’ll be great to find s couple :sunglasses:

You could look in the " Old timer forum "

I’ve had a look found a couple of tankfrieght/shell trucks but still no shell chemicals liveried FL10’s :frowning:

Welcome to the forum
