A request for the mods to delete unnecessary quotes and re-quotes for next year and future years
I’ve posted this before but come on lads n lasses it really isn’t necessary
when replying to the exact previous post, just post!! It follows on and we can all keep up, easy really.
When quoting from further up it’s not necessary to post the 3rd, 4th or 5th persons quote as well. Just the one you are replying to.
It’s an unnecessary ball ache scrolling through pages and posts to get to the most recent
I know I sound like my Dad bringing it up again but please give it a rest
Happy new year
I think they already did something, you now can’t post with more than 4 embedded set of quotes.
Yea, I totally agree with this, not necessary !
Well I think sometimes it can be very useful, to post with quotes.
Yep 4 embedded quotes is the limit I think.
Sometimes I will edit the quotes to reduce the repition but occasionally its usefull to new members finding a thread and being able to follow the flow of conversation. Especially if its kicking off a bit.
Theres also those members on premod who may join the conversation late who need quoting as they have come up with a great point that may be missed.
What really drys my ■■■■■ is those threads that just have a link to a news article in the OP and nothing else. Not that they arent interesting articles just that the opening poster could at least put the effort in and quote the article in question a bit and even give a paragraph or twos comment or critique. Lazy journalism if you ask me + those on limited bandwidth have to load a new page that may or may not be of interest to them.
Oh and my new years resolution is to cut down on self pleasuring, I really have to take myself in hand and control these urges.

Hmm, we’ll see if the 5th quotes is auto removed
A bit of sensibility in all things, i too will try and edit the quotes to just the posters names (in quotes) and a relevant line if neceassry to save too much repetition, but when we get multiple quotes that often ends up a right ■■■■ up anyway, plus by selective quoting its too easy for the person doing the editing to take a posters meaning out of context when those who join a thread late see what the quoter and not the quoted wanted you to read.
Some people here have sense of humour, some had a bypass of that function many years ago and you have to tread on eggshells around them, this thread already proving that.
Without ‘quoting’ just referring to the poster you wish to address or comment upon or engage, just putting their name easily gets lost.
I agree that quoting full texts from some ling winded waffle posts…racking what’s left of me mind trying to think of someone who might do that
…might be a bit over the top so a sensible solution might be to just quote the first line, but if the first quoting poster doesn’t do that it can all go to pieces.
So long as the site owners don’t mind i don’t, but then i’m always on a desktop not having, and not wanting, a so called smart phone…the owners of which might feel differently.
Well, that answered it, for the first time for me in big red letters about the 4 quote embed limit, learn summat every day.
And goes to prove what i said, some ham fisted bugger, me, has just cocked the quoting right up so Dipper Dave’s posts looks like its part of mine.
