New work and nice life

Called round to see SG haulage last week as am living at Saxilby for a while. Rang him up and went straight over to see him. Knew I would enjoy working for him right from the start. 18 or so trucks and just the Gaffer and his Daughter running things.

Have had a run up to Glasgow with garden sheds, Carlisle with concrete slabs as well as a bit of local on the 6 wheeler crane and portkabins down to Oxford and LPG tanks up to bishop Auckland. So a really varied mix of work.

4 days last week and a couple this week which is enough for me and I get plenty of time to discover Lincolnshire.

For the first time in years I’m enjoying the work and have changed my work life balance. Lifes good

well done, good for you. just temp or ongoing work?

Is that legal having that bike on the front ?

I like my job so I know how you feel, I hope it continues to be enjoyable for many years to come, I’ve had a few jobs in transport that I made my life a misery I was lucky to get out of them on good terms and get the job I have now.

don’t know and its too much fun to care, but if it is then this is’nt

Nice bit of sheeting, but the bike on the front has to be illegal, it’s obscuring the lights for a start :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

hang on, are you travelling and living in the double decker and working here and there, if so that is very cool indeed

Another thought, can you really pull a double decker bus with what looks like a Land Rover ? :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Looks great, any chance of some interior shots of the bus? i saw you parked up on the ind est last week.

Always thought double deckers were 16’ high. Whats that silver thing on the front, top?

The lights will get sorted, have some here to put on but they are only driving lights and like to do the job properly with a high and low beam set up, I’m thinking the easiest way is to cobble something up of road going plant so the whole light cluster can be duplicated. In the meantime my thoughts are with road legal vehicles that legally run with no lights at the front, like trail bikes. They pass an mot but are limited to daylight hours.

that’s it in one JLS and it will be cool when I do it in a climate such as yours.

Yes and it works well. Wont stop it very well but ive only done it in case I do for instance an injector pump on the motorway, if its downhill to the next exit/services I can roll but coming up with this I avoid a big recovery bill. In low box the V8 will accelerate as good as an old F86 fully loaded up to 30mph.

no this is a low height double decker, the headroom is only 5’10”, not a problem for me. It also means I avoid damage by trees on rural roads as the wagons keep it free.

Yes that was me Matt, don’t know about jobs, I only work part time as and when which suits us both.

Not normally that’s just a backup, usually I tow the landy with the bus.
