New Volvo FHs for Pollocks

I hated the look of this truck when it was launched, but in ‘Scottish’ colours I think it looks quite good.

I agree when they first come out I didn’t like them definetly grown on me

I wonder if the same will happen with the Renaults…my initial reaction was laughter.

I remember when bathroom suites were that colour…in 1978!

A friend on Facebook just got his…

They don’t want to pay good wages & give people time off for emergencies etc but its ok to buy new trucks…

I’ve just started working for Pollock. Two days ago in fact. I was made redundant two days before Christmas and decided, due to the treatment from this employer, that I no longer wanted anything to do with the UK haulage industry, so I became my dad’s carer.

Anyway, after seven months sabbatical I decided to give trucking a second chance, so applied for a job with Pollock and as I’ve said, started this Monday.

Verdict - yes, the pay is crap, but the tackle is good and so far I’ve been doing 7-8 hr days. Straight trunking work and as has been mentioned on other threads/posts on Trucknet, a crap job is better than no job. Marginally. I’ll see how it pans out over the next few weeks.

Personally prefer Stuart Nicol’s new FH. I was parked beside it in Govan yesterday and it looked amazing IMO. Wished I’d taken a photo of it now cos I can’t find any pics of it on the internet.

Which is a fair comment if their terms and conditions are a long way behind what other companies ofer, but firms that leave fleet replacements for too long can sometimes find there is an unbridgeable gap between what they’ve got, and what they need. So they stick with the old stuff, getting more and more expensive to run until one day the cost of spares and repairs has eaten all the profits up.

By then it’s far too late to do anything about it.

They’ve also just acquired a fleet of shiny new Mazda 6 company cars, replete with private PSL 'plates for the senior back room staff.
