Personaly MERC for me all day long BUT I do like the look of the new Volvo , but I think MERC edges it for all round (looks , comfort , easy of use and PRICE )
I think the new Volvo will be the usual high quality truck BUT with usual high price !
Volvo & Scania where top of the tree but I think everyone has caught up but still at a cheaper price to the buyer !
Is it me, or since they’ve taken away the ‘rake’ in the windscreen, the cab seems monstrous?
Have’nt drove either and probably won’t for a long time. Heard the new Merc is not a great puller but the gearbox & exhauster is very good. Prefer the gearcgange on the armrest personally and seeing as Merc service is so poor where i am i’d say my current Merc will be my last 
. Given the choice id stay Merc though,built to last
Reviving one of my old threads – since people might have had a chance to drive / see more pictures of them, what would people rather have as a trampers truck - New Volvo FH or Merc Actros MP4.
I’m not keen on the looks of the FH but it sounds like its got the great Volvo build quality
most of my good friends in the trucking industry currently drive version 2 volvos - one family in particular you could have cut in half and it would have said volvo down the centres, but to my amazement they are totally unimpressed with the new volvo, to me it just looks like an unfinished ugly ducking, i cant comment on the drivers living inviroment as i havent seen it - on either truck for that matter, but from the outside i do think the merc wins hands down in terms of looks, nice low stance with nice lines to the cab,(what i’m trying to say is it looks nicely in proportion) the volvo just looks al over the place with an air kit that doesnt reach the top of the cab and mirrors that look very much blue peter! i’ve been told that volvo wont be offering a manual gearbox after christmas■■? got to be a merc if i had to choose, if the seats dont go down or far enough back then surely that can be modded to suit?
on a daf note, if daf were to use less gay shaped head lights and add a deeper bumper then i’d be all over that 
I agree. The fh looks shocking whereas the actros looke mucb better. Not sure about the drivr of eithet of them.
The single man cab on the merc lookw good with the passenger seat right back with a table etc

The Mercs got the looks but I haven’t seen inside, on the other hand I had a nosey in a new Volvo the other day and you just know the quality and pedigree are there but it looks ■■■■ unless you colour code all the black grill and windscreen panel then they look pretty good IMO .

Seen lots of the new actros now,still not overly keen. Saw my first new FH12 today,a maritime one on the M74 southbound at Crawford,looked so different to the photos. Seems bulkier around the doors-not impressed.

i`m a bit of a merc fan,so it would have to be good for me to pick it over the mp4
ditto although the EPS has stuck in 12th gear a few times on both actros and axor. thats when it does go into gear. a 58 plate caused a few problems last year when it wouldnt select a gear which left me stranded until it fixed itself. thats computers for you 
Saw one of Maritimes new FH’s a couple of days ago, looks 100x better painted up than the launch colour.

I’ve seen on net that Merc do a solo star cab.
Passenger seat fully back with a table that drops down and single fold down bunk. Now that would be good if your away lots. The cab must be massive.
