Does anybody know how to stop the message " Drivers card needs downloading" appearing on the dashboard display of the new Volvo FH? It comes up nearly every time I turn on the ignition. Volvo say the download tool needs updating to remove the message. Our download service provider “Tacomagic” know nothing about it.
Can anybody help as it’s just another irritating addition to the vehicle which really isn’t needed.
Never heard of it, but presuming you have done the obvious and the experts know nothing, then it’s a fault.
Had that with my new one, all i had to do was download my drivers card and the next time i put it into the truck it disapeared. It will nag you again after 28 days if you haven’t done so.
So the latest tachos are a bit more clever and the obvious (download your tacho data) seems to apply after all.
and when you put your digi card into the tacho it activates your personal settings , for something… don’t ask me what, cos i haven’t worked it out yet.
it sets up the display on the right of the speedo, plus radio stations and last heater setting.
What happened to turning the key, push the button and drive away?
This must surely be a fault on the truck as opposed to anything related to your card or your tacho bureau?
start with ignition on, engine off, press the knob on the steering wheel to bring up the menu on the dashboard. then scroll down to vehicle settings then pres the knob again. now am not 100% sure but I think you can adjust what messages and personal settings you require just have a flick about the options and im sure its in vehicle messages, vehicle data, favorites or personal settings. this menu will only come up when the truck is at a standstill, not when the engine is running
We have 5 of the new FHs and 2 of us have this error message every time we turn engine on-mentioned this to volvo and they dont want to know, blaming it on the card not the truck-but me think its more common now, dont get me going on the electric handbrake…
not had any trouble after the first use with ours. got to like the handbrake now…
If it still tells you to download your digicard after you have done so, then obviously truck seems to be at fault. As for the hand brake, i love it, auto release is the best thing ever. Jmho.

I thought the best thing ever was the wheel, without those wheels you wouldn’t need a handbrake or auto release as you wouldn’t be going anywhere:D

Try and get into the habit of putting it on manually though when parking up.
Always apply manually.
