New terminal Languard/Felixstowe

Well, the terminal will soon open, and HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU!!

The transtainer cabs are the other way round!!! and that means its bloody dangerous for us. The driver, lifting over six high, will be blind until the box is at least halfway and if boxes are 5 high in the first bay, his vision is really restricted. Also, if there is a twistlock problem, he is not going to see you standing beside the cab, and god forbid, a driver walking down between the wagon and transtainer, YES WE’VE ALL SEEN IT HAPPEN, will be asking for trouble. Lets hope the ports’ H and E provide information. If you drive under anticlockwise the drivers’ door is against the boxes as when picking up 20’s doors front and back, adding to the problem.

The old interchange is revamped and rumour has it ,they will be experimenting with the idea of self tipping and lifting. Thats a shame, I will miss those helpful smiling faces!!!

Finally, the quayside cranes, capable of reaching 28 boxes across and biggest portainer cranes in the world, are ideal for the likes of maersk and msc who operate the largest ships. Don,t be surprised if one them becomes sole user.

Ah, transtainers! So that’s what the booking in guy meant by “■■■■■■ driver”. I thought the drivers of those big gantry things must be wearing frocks.

didnt realise they were that close to the get go. how soon before its winded off :unamused:

by self tipping and lifting, do you mean the changes to booking in. if not thats something else that is going to change next year, no more checkers or booking in guys at the ingates (trinity), you’ll use the ingate loaded in the same way that yuo do empty skell now. and expect big que’s before it comes into force. dockers not happy.any problems head for THA

As the port of Feelicks toe is always in the news when it is a bit breezy on the East Coast. How does that compare to the ECT in the Maasvlakte or Maasvlakte 2? After all Holland is flat like Suffolk and East Anglia. Just that I don’t remember being sat in operation stack or having to wait until the weather improved. Is it because most of Europoort is automated and doesn’t require a man to climb up into these scary container handlers?

I beleave that it is the case that a card school is so much more atmospheric whilst the wind is gently brushing the leaves from the trees. Or yes you hit the nail on the head above.

Your right biscuit. but don’t look up. Under H&E there not allowed to wear ■■■■■■■ without a doctors letter.
