Thing is though I imagine a lot of big fleets prefer the grey plastic bumpers simply because they don’t show up marks and scratches so badly
Also easier to repair the commonly damaged bumper area, buy the part and fit it, vehicle back on rd quicker than waiting for parts to be painted. No extra cost for paint and labour either.
Longman.
or no need to run round for over a week with half your bumper missing lol
Thanks for the reminder Russ but yes down to waiting for my part to be painted!

Still Hitlers revenge, auto gearbox CRAP fleetboard CRAP service from dealers CRAP
Where do you get that from?
I’ve spent this week in a 60 plate Merc Actros, and the auto-box has been a real joy to use, I put it up there with the I-shift.
I hate the cup holders in the Actros, and in the 60 plate, didn’t like the drivers window blind, it kept going up by itself, stupid design, and some of the button placements could be MUCH better, and the stereo has an aux in (3.5mm) socket, but it’s above the windscreen
Hopefully the new ones will have improvements, could easily make a perfect truck
+1 Waynedl
I’ve had a 60 plate Actros from new. The auto box is easy to use, seems to respond well when you disagree with it’s choice of gear and has’t caused me the slightest bit of grief in over 180,000. I can’t compare it to any other auto because the only other ones I’ve driven were an early Stralis and an MAN demonstrator over 5 years ago.
We changed our fleet from MAN to a mixed Merc and Daf. All big cabs, all with over 450 bhp on tap. We changed because our local MAN dealer was giving horrendously poor service.
actros mega is still my fav tramping tool…put a volvo or daf matress in it and it would be better still tbh ive never had a problem with any auto box,and ive used most
When my boss buys a truck its factory white no name nothing bog standard apart from they have started putting alloys on.Cant see the merc looking very nice like that but to thim if it does the job thats what matters. Not sure if it will be strong enough for bulk though with all the quarry work and trees clouting the cab.

The look awesome, inside they are great too. Note how Stobart only really pays the money for a better truck when it really matters, note how he wont let the motorsport teams turn up with a poor Scania. Says it all !
I’ve only watched one episode but I seem to remember all the rally trucks are Scanias. Not to mention his horse boxes…
And the Pirelli F1 Trucks.
The pirelli is wrapped in Carbon fibre so they say looks like Matt black to me lol

Might of been said already, but they also do (or did last time I heard) the transportation for Mercedes F1, so hence the latest Merc trucks. The Sebastion Loeb race team had a couple of new Mercs at Ricard a couple of weeks ago and the design is not really to my taste. I’m sure it’s a great truck though.

Didn’t like them at first glance but defo grown on me, especially when they look like this. !
Longman.
Would look even better had it of not crashed through the kelsa showroom.
Looking at all the details I’m sure every tweek and grove on that truck is the result of many hours of CFD and wind tunnel design work to get the best shape for fuel economy that you can with a truck. Then somebody sticks a load of lights and air horns on it.

Lol yeah exactly.
^^
But give him a break, he probably only did a night out parked outside the Kelsa factory, and awoke to find the Kelsa fairies had been waving their wands at it
Seen a new narrow cab Actros on the A34 the last couple of mornings in the launch colour, looks smart but the wider bottom half almost looks like a fat lip
Very nice the way they are now. Will Stobart use these for general haulage i wonder? I was at the Irish launch,1 broke down and had to be towed away…rumour’s where rife about gearbox failure and the like but it turn’s out it was a blocked fuel line. Not 1 has been sold here in Ireland yet(well not since Thursday) but they are meant to be a full mpg better than the equivelant V6 on fuel. You should see the 6x2 variant, the adblue tank is a joke you would’nt get 100k’s before it would need refilling.
