New Rig Opinions

Hi All
This is my first post so forgive me if I’m not completely correct in my descriptions etc.

I have a timer building manufacturing business and we currently run a 21ton merc with a 9m bed to transport our buildings to site. Currently we hire telehandler forklifts to unload on site but this is costing a fortune and I thought it would be good to have our own. My idea was to have a wagon and drag but I can see a problem possibly on the return journey with the telehandler on the drag which will weigh around 6tons with an empty lorry bed.

Cheers

should be possible to fit a set of ramps to the front and back of the drag trailer so you can run the telehandler up on to the prime mover - problem solved .

as above,or find drivers for it with skils like these dudes.

Err Moffet Mounty on the back of a rigid. Surely cheaper to buy one of those than a wagon amd drag and use it to hold a forklift.

I drive a 18.25 mtr W&D (6 wheeler plus tri axle trailer) with a manitou on the back of the trailer. Handles exactly the same loaded or empty, as long as the lift axle on the trailer is raised when empty. However it is important to get the correct counter-weight on the front of the trailer. MEB at Harefield (Manitou suppliers) are very helpful. Will lift up to 2.5 ton. If you need a proper tele-handler, the road planing outfits seem to work OK with the planer on a trailer hooked up to a tipper.

The green dream and others will quote

If you look through the pics you’ll see something very similar to what your looking for . Knew I’d seen something like it - just couldn’t remember where .

Or have a rigid with a crane and slings to lift off tye bed and deposit the timber buildings?

“Chieftain’s range of truck drawn commercial drawbar low loaders can be used to transport road planners.” One way to get rid of ‘em. Just tell’ em it’s updating their skills.

We did think about this but the forklift will need to transport the products across fields during the winter time so needs to be heavier duty.

We looked at this but often we can not get near enough to the site.
