I’m a new pass Class 1 & 2 with all the bells and whistles (DCPC, ADR, Manual Handling, Safe Pass, First Aid).
However I’ve zero hours actual driving. Are employment agencies the best starting place to gain 6 months experience before seeking work with long term prospects?
Poundland Wigan way tend take on new pass drivers if there looking I don’t know.
This time of year though things will quiet down soon so be limited choices
Thanks Edd. There’s beer delivery work being offered over in Warrington, I was just wondering if there was better opportunities with an established Haulage company rather than do temp work for 6 months
You could have a wander around the local haulage companies doing overnight pallet deliveries, to offer your services as anything from a warehouseman/van driver up to artics to see what they say. You have nothing to lose other than shoe leather/ petrol and your time.
Agencies are usually the easiest way in when you’ve got zero hours. They will often have short runs, shunting or depot work that helps you build real experience without too much pressure. Some local haulage firms will also take on new passes if you’re willing to start with nights/tramping or lower paid shifts at first..
Once you’ve got a few months under your belt, doors open a lot more. Stick with it, everyone starts somewhere. Good luck with it👍
