New Operating Centre

When operating a vehicle from somewhere other than your operating centre, how long can this go on for without making an application for a new O/C. Please bear in mind the ‘new’ o/c is outside your usual traffic area.

Any answers or advice gratefully received.

At least 9 weeks before you move Kate :open_mouth:

Adding or changing operating centres on your goods vehicle operator’s licence

If you want to use a new operating centre either instead of - or as well as - an operating centre already on your licence, you must complete a GV81 application form.

Download the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency’s (VOSA’s) form GV81 - Application for major changes to your goods vehicle operator’s licence (PDF, 269K) - Opens in a new window.
Where to send the GV81 form and application fee

You should send the completed form GV81 with the application fee to:

VOSA Central Licensing Unit
Hillcrest House
386 Harehills Lane
Leeds
LS9 6NF

You will need to send the GV81 at least nine weeks before you need the extra vehicles or change of operating centre on your licence.

Thanks Malc, I suspected as much.

Now the burning question is…what to do about it…
It’s nothing to do with me as such, just getting a bit more bitter as time goes by !!!

call 0300 1239000, then select option 6

tell them all that you know :sunglasses:

Thank you Shuttlespanker, If that’s what I think it is, It will give me great pleasure

If a vehicle is transferred from the Traffic Area in which it is licensed to a base in another Traffic Area for a period of more than three months,it must be removed from the original licence and specified on a license in a new Traffic Area.Transfer for periods of less than three months are permitted with no need for notification to the TC provided an “O” license with a sufficient margin to to cover the transferred vehicles is already held for that Traffic Area.
If the operator does not hold an “O” license in the other Traffic Area, or holds a license in the area but does not have the sufficient margin to accommodate the the transferred vehicles, then an application for a new license or a variation of the existing license must be made to the TC for that Traffic Area. It is illegal to operate vehicles (ie over 3.5 tonnes gvw ) from a base in a Traffic Area unless a license is held in that area.
