Lot of heavy handball… Mediocre salary… And I had a great job offered - european courier driver (but this one unfortunately lasted only for 1 month, as some bloody self-employed eastern europeans came with their crappy 20 yo mercedes and took my job )
But yeah, it was beautifull and boss was great.
used to pull insuliners on fruit from holland a couple of years ago and the curtains can be heavy and ours had the boards along the sides which made tipping of the side a pain as we had to strip the sides to tip steel, and then build it up again to load the fruit as the place in holland wouldn’t load off a ramp without the boards in.also struggled to keep the temp down in the summer sometimes, often because the pallets were loaded too high and restricted the airflow.
David Andrews (now called Andrews after Browns bought them out early last year) have several insuliners. They use them on regular vegetable work around Boston and south Lincolnshire, and there are normally several parked up in their yard at Bicker Bar. I also know that Harper & Son Haulage from Huntingdon have several insuliners for agricultural work. There are more about than most people think…

Stobarts used to have (may still have??) a tipper with side doors for loading pallets i believe. I think they worked either out of or to somewhere in South Wales.
Scandinavians also have some fridges that have doors all along the side that can be opened as much as a curtainsider.
Heygates flour from Bugbrooke sometimes use a rigid curtainsider pulling a tanker drag trailer , looks weird having two types of vehicle together.
Hm.
As we are talking about strange vehicles: what about this one:
Or this one:
Or this interesting ekhm… how to call that… Rail tractor?
Or another dual-purpose unimog:

have seen a few in italy, used for hauling horsemeat to petfood factories.

great for flexibility but heavy as hell, they struggle to freeze anything below chilled also.
I think someone mentioned the curtainsider with the tank in the bottom under the floor. Then remember the Turkish company who had the glass stillages inside a tilt (innenlader)
A local farmer to me had an F86 aluminium drop side grain tipper that had twist locks fitted and a waterproof sheet. He used to take his grain to the docks, get a container for Lancashire and bring reels of paper home
pointons at Cheddleton have/had some tippers with moffet mounties on the back…
