The Spanish company Primafrío, has just bought 90% of all the shares of the Lithuanian company Girteka Logistics, so it takes full control of the company’s management.
Girteka Logistics is a logistics company based in the city of Vilnius, Lithuania. It was founded in 1996 by Mindaugas Raila, who at the age of 24 bought a used truck complete with trailer. Today it is the largest transport company in Europe. The company belongs to the group Me Investicija, which will soon become part of Primafrio.

Girteka Logistics has reached this year the new magical mark of 10,000 drivers. According to the operator of the Lithuanian fleet, the number of drivers increased from 8,000 to 10,000 in just seven months .
Likewise, with the merger of Primafrio with more than 3,500 workers and Girteka Logistics, with nearly 20,000, the company becomes the largest in Europe, with 23,500 workers and exceeding 13,500 trucks.
The merger of both companies points to astronomical figures that in 2019 a fifth of the truck fleet will be revived due to the shortage of drivers, with a salary supplement. According to Girteka and Primafrío officials, the shortage of drivers is exacerbated by low salaries and EU social legislation, which also entails hotel accommodation costs. Girteka also announced a new pricing model in response to higher costs, but without giving details.
