I’m very impressed with the new MAN that now takes its place as my home. Stepped up from a battered 2018 FH500. Some say they are a bit plasticy. There’s a bit, especially coming from a full-leather volvo, but doesn’t take long to get comfortable. TV mounts nicely in it, bags of room everywhere. The subwoofer is fantastic. Love the digital dash and entertainment system too.
This, with the new DAF lineup, they really are gamechangers once you get over the fact it’s not a swedish V8. There are a few downsides, must have a thick bed topper because the factory bed bases are crap by themselves. Velco the carpet and mats down to stop them sliding and have fabric for the seatbelt feeder, it squeaks a bit without something in the gap. Cruise control is also very fiddly, seems to just stop working, doesn’t kickdown so just slows down. A few times this was the truck slowing down for rounabouts 2km in the distance, which is actually amazing. Just different, that’s all. It doesn’t run away from 90km on hills, which is great for europe especially.
Overall, very impressed, and if you’re able to make it your own, you can make it as good as you need. No cowboy hats or daft curtains required either, as you’re not part of any subcults
