New lorries. How many?

After reading Actrosman and Toby’s posts regarding new motors, I tried to add up all the brand new lorries I’ve had since I started driving, I don’t think I’ve missed any, the number is 10.
H reg Volvo FL6 rigid
J reg Man 19.170 (I think) rigid
M reg Scania 143 Streamline 420
N reg Volvo FH-12 420
R reg Daf 95 XF 430
1999 or 2000 Volvo FH-12. (On Swedish plates) 380
51reg Scania 144 530
52 reg Daf 95XF Super Space Cab
61 reg Volvo FH-12 460
63 reg Volvo FH12-460
My current motor was 2 months old when I got it
Not too bad I think, how about you…

Only ever had 1 brand new truck in my time. It was a DAF CF when I was at Lynx Express. Reg PJ05 ZUC. Spent more time off the road in its first 3 months though. Wiring loom went on fire, then alternator packed in, then the EBS module failed. After that, it never missed a beat.
And on July 13th this year, I am due to get a brand new black Actros Bigspace.[emoji3] [emoji3]

Only ever three; an N-reg ERF EC12 followed by a 56-plate Axor and a 57 DAF CF. The EC12 was by a great margin the best of them and had, if I remember rightly, a Cat engine.

Newest one I’ve ever driven was an Ivecco at Peter Smythes. Only had 2000K’s on it, ran it out of fuel too!

D reg FL6
F 1617 :sunglasses:
04 Man 410
15 Arocs

Just one, a 54 reg Foden Alpha 6wheeler, 345 Cat engine. It went really well and was great on fuel. For anyone passing Smiths Bletchingtons’ HQ, it’s the forlorn looking wagon dumped in the yard with no signwriting. Been “withdrawn” with a knackered engine.
I was meant to be getting a new Daf 8wheeler this year but it was cancelled due to body building lead times.

I’ve only ever had three since 1976. :open_mouth:
YWX 761 S Bedford TM
B 802 CHE Scania mk 2
H *** ***? Scania mk 3
All me own allocated motors with no sharing.

Two new trucks in twenty years, a new C reg Foden in May 1986 and in November 1996 I got another new P reg Foden and the old one was sold on to an OD. Then a year later I left and it was back to a 1986 Foden again!

Ive had the pleasure of a few ,G reg fl0 bang on :smiley:daf 95 drag that went like stink ,53reg daf 430 auto toss  ,and a new turberg when i had a few years shunting :open_mouth: ,since then all hand me downs or cab hopping…

When I first passed my class 2 my very first wagon was a brand new 05 plate Volvo ,talk about being thrown in at the deep end…it certainly made me extra careful whilst gaining my driving experience.

Only two, a 2010 R440 and a 2012 FH16 750. Not a bad leap. But now I’m lorry less. Poor lorry less Luke

About 1982 I had a new 7.5t Iveco, bloody thing used to lock up when empty in the wet.

Then the next Brand New Wagon was a MAN TGX 26.440 GN13 TUH=Jennifer (2 years ago) 67km on the clock, did about 200,000 km in her & in late March this year I got another MAN TGX 26.440 (Fleet Spec [emoji22]) 274km on the clock, GK15 BHV=Jennifer2, she’s done 23,000km so far, some on the night trunk. (Approx 2000km per week)

Never had a new truck in the UK, all have being at least a few months or a year or so old. Over here I’ve had two brand new trucks, the first being a 2010 Freightliner Cascadia and the other being a 2011 Volvo VN670 low roof. My current truck is the oldest I’ve actually ever had being a 2005 with 1.3 million miles on the clock and one full engine rebuild under its belt last autumn. My first full time truck was back in 2006 and that was also a 2005 so pretty new at the time, a DAF95 480 space cab, I loved the truck but by 3 years old it was showing its age and I highly doubt it still exists today. American trucks are way behind the times in lots of respects, especially ones from a few years ago but my Kenworth is going strong and the firm I work for even have some old 98’s and 99’s that are still on the go and without all the emissions stuff, they’re incredibly robust and reliable.

Hi

I spent many years on nights and one of the jobs you got fairly often was taking time served trucks away and bringing new replacements back, but they weren,t your truck.
I t was many years before I was allocated my “own” brand new truck.
