New Laptop

My oldest daughter (13) needs a new laptop as hers is a windows XP running slow as a Scammell bag of toss.

She wants to

Use the internet
Open office docs
Listen to music
Watch the odd DVD

It needs to be Microsoft as her school get all bent out of shape if as takes my MacBook in as their network won’t put up with anything good happening to it.

I’m fairly out of date on Microsoft laptops and the like having converted to Apple years ago.

Budget is about 350 quid. Second hand isn’t too much of an issue.

Can any if you suggest what I need to get her.

Hi Tom. Check out reviews on the HP Pavilion models - I bought the g6 about 18mths ago and it seems to be a very capable and versatile little “toy”. It was (is) my first lappy, as I couldnt take my Dell desktop abroad with me. Only last week, a computer repair/upgrade bod said to me (his actual words) "good computers, these pavilions". I would hasten to add that he wasnt repairing mine when he said this!! Shop around and they can be had VERY reasonably too!
