ok guys…
final got new laptop… now i want to make sure my inverter can cope with it.
its a 12v 300w
now the laptop is HP
input 100 - 200v 1.6a 50/60hz
output 18.5v 3.5a
so is my old inverter ok or do i need a bigger one?

Volts x Amps = Watts
18.5v x 3.5a = 64.75 watts, so your 300 watt inverter should be able to handle that easily.
I used a 24v 300w inverter for my laptop with no power problems. But it caused interference which created problems with the MAUT Sensor fitted to my truck.
Another option is one of these laptop-chargers.co.uk/, which works on 12 to 24 volt supply. A bit pricey though.
Yet another option, is one of these Maplins Laptop PSU or something similar. There are several other makes and types available. All a fair bit cheaper, but only 12v ish supply.
