Got a new laptop. Top of the range stuff rated at 150w. Now my 300w 24v inverter runs it no problem. As it should. As the daf 24v socket is 15amp. Which is just above 300 watts. Anyway how long can i keep this bad boy plugged in for? Now I know it’s taking 7-8 amps. And i can see that from the power consumption software. Now I had no worries on my old laptop only 90w. Could run that thing all night. But now it’s more power I dont to wake up flat.
I know I could run the engine, but when your in a busy truckstop it’s hardly practice imo. I have a low voltage cut off and warning on the inverter. I don’t want to trust it though
I do charge it when driving. Anyway it’s a gaming laptop. So when gaming it doesn’t last long on battery. So just asking
For when I’m playing a bit of call of duty at night

You should only plug in to charge your battery until the little light tells you it is fully charged then unplug
and run off battery otherwise if you keep it plugged in it will ruin the battery.
Best thing to do if you are using it for any length of time especially gameing and that is to pop the battery out and then plug
the laptop on.

You sure about that cos I have a laptop that’s used 24/7 when I’m at sea and also in port for running an electronic navigation system and the battery is still good after six months or so of being used this way?

Laptop batteries must be a bit iffy otherwise the guarantee would be for 12 months like the lappie but they are for 6 mths only, found that out to my cost awhile back as I had one die on me but only bothered to complain 6mth and 1 week after purchase date but if you’re a bit of a dab hand with as soldering iron you can buy from Maplins new power cells to replace the duff one, haven’t done it cos my batteries outlive the abusive treatment my laptops get
