First of all a bit of background. I started on an agency back in July. I have held C and C+E for nearly twelve months. I’m using the agency to top up my wages from my full time job (HM Forces). As the driving is “part-time” and a second job I fill in an agency time sheet for every week regardless of any driving I do for them in order to maintain RT(WT) regs.
Should I carry these when I am driving or am I just alright to let the agency maintain the records?
Also, as my main job is exempt these regs do they actually count towards them? My role is not as a driver in the forces so I don’t accumilate any driver hours during the week.
Hi Tippers and welcome
I’m new here myself I so used ROG’s link to earlier answers.
My understanding has always been that if ANY work is done in a particular week that ANY driving is done then there has to be a record of the other work .
Question to ponder:-
Does this mean that the paper tachograph will be with us forever? Even if it’s just to record our non-driving activates for the week

no it wont because you can write on the back of a bit of digi tacho paper, its exactly the same as an analogue tacho except its not round!!!
The other work you do does not count toward the WTD as it applies to mobile workers so no worries there. It will count toward the tacho rules as far as weekly rest goes so if you work Monday to Friday at your proper job you will not be able to work both Saturday and Sunday in a week. You may, depending on times, only be able to work as a driver under EU regs on 1 day in every 2 weeks to allow you to comply with the weekly rest requirements.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was aware about the weekend work and can only do one day every over week. That is of course if I can can get any out of the agency.
So, just to put this all to bed. How should I record my mon-fri hours? on a blank tacho?[/b]

YES - a seperate disc for each day with just your name, start & finish times BUT they only need doing for the week in which you come under EU driving regs
