Me and my boy went to see the Kray film ‘Legend’ last night and I really recomend it. I’ve read a lot of books about the Krays so it made it more interesting.
I knew that Ronnie was mad, but was surprised that he appeared to be a bit obvious that he had mental problems that made him appear to be a bit backward. I assume it was accurate as research must have been done but I thought his psychiatric problems were more of the violent psychotic nature (which they were) rather than an obvious visual nature.
Anyway go and see it, it’s a good movie.
I’ve heard good things about this. Looking forward to it.
Very good indeed. Thoroughly enjoyed it
I to have read several books about the Krays and other characters from the underworld. Saw the film with the Kemp brothers playing the Krays. Will look forward to seeing this one.

That wasn’t a bad film, but this one is way better. I must admit the thought of one good actor playing the pair of them seemed a bit sad and cheesy, but you won’t even notice once you stop bothering to try and look for the join

The Kemp film was a bit sanitized. Maybe because the twins were still alive and still had influence and potential repurcussions over anybody that dared to disrespect them.
The new film is on another level.
The Krays ran the East end but not a lot of mention of the Richardsons who ran the SE London area, why not?
Maybe they weren’t such a murderous nutty pair of thugs as the Krays !

They were featured in the film. George Cornell, whom Ronnie shot, and got eventually convicted for, was a Richardson gang member. They were equally as violent and had a habit of ritual torture.
Until recently Mad Frankie Fraser, another Richardson gang member, ran tourist tours of the Krays and Richardson’s old haunts. He died just last year.
Back in the 70’s I lived in Plumstead and went to look at a Mk1 2.4 Jag a guy had up for sale in Belvedere, I never had the full amount of money he wanted but he let me take it and told me to pay the rest as soon as I could. He was a member of the Richardsons crowd, needless to say I paid it very quickly and did not even complain when I discovered I had bought a shed !!
Anyone remember the ‘skip’ wars that went on at the time ?
An old guy, a driver, that I knew, told a tale regularly about when he parked in Bethnal Green and Aldgate in the 60s.
He was in a pub and was carrying 2 pints over, and spilled a lttle bit of beer on a guy’s shoes, who was smartly dressed in a suit. He apologised to the guy very politely who just said “ok mate I see it was an accident” and nothing more was said. He was told by one of the locals how lucky he was, …it was Ronnie Kray. It was the 60s and the Krays fame had not stretched to where the driver lived in ■■■■■■■■ so the name meant nothing to him at the time. Later on as the Kray name got more famous, he realised just how lucky he was not to get a bloody good beating.
I always thought it was a yarn but later I met the other driver who he was with in the pub, not the kind of guy to tell lies, and he verified it.
