Off to Suisse on Sunday, never been myself before but luckily they’re sending me in convoy with another driver to get used to the customs side.
Wish me luck

Good luck. Never been but been told fantastic country.
Good Luck and Enjoy the breathtaking scenery
Have fun, wish I was going
It’s a good trip, very beautiful scenery, and a drive you will remember for a long time.
The Customs document you will be travelling on is called a T2, pay very close attention to what your buddy does as he gets these from the agent, this is an important part of a trip to Switzerland. Likewise paying the road tax thingy which you will do at the Swiss border.
Switzerland lives up all of to the cliches- mountains, cleanliness, efficiency and Toblerone with somewhat dour and sober inhabitants. Boring, some might say, but not me of course.
It’s expensive to eat out, although the food is fantastic and whenever I see the food in the services and truckstops there, I always think I should put some waitress from Newport Pagnell or Chippenham into a half-nelson and march her out to see it.
Do you know where you are going yet?
Stuart
As i said to you earlier, if you get stuck give me a call.
Munchenstein is a doddle, and Interlaken is easy enough to get to so you wont have any problems there.

Decent resto’ at the parking in Muttenz, showers in the cellar under the resto’.
Come off at the same exit but just into the tunnel turn left at the Muttenz sign, follow the road straight on. Just after it bends right there is an Opel dealer, turn left just before the dealership. You’ll see wagons reversed up to the fence, immediately past them is the entrance, take all the road you can because its a bit neat. Take the ticket from the machine to lift the barrier. Present your ticket in the resto’ for them to stamp it to let you out in the morning.
Free parking for 14 hours, if you eat in the resto’. ChF10 if you don’t.
It’s 10 minutes from Munchenstein, the Dreispitz Freilager? You can park overnight there, but there’s no resto’ until mid morning.
Thanks for all the info Guys it’s much appreciated.
Don’t worry ben I’ve got your number
A barrier at muttenz? Shows how long it is since i went then!
Switzerland is a beautiful country and i used to love going. Are you clearing at Lamprechts in the freilager? They used to be fairly quick.
Good luck with the trip and i hope you enjoy it.

I fully expected to get nicked on the border this week for the bulges in the curtains, but somehow, and i am not quite sure how i managed to get away with it… Mnd you, it was 2150hrs and the bird was waiting to go home!!
PTM used to have guys nicked there quite often for being too high and over length. Thats what comes of running 6 leggers with Big tanks though.
No probs wit height, four wheel scanny topline (urgh) and euroliners

They really like the line, “Even Hitler didn’t want this poxy country”, if you want to impress them
They gave me a hard time as the truck I was driving was a motorsports truck and should have been treated as a large motorhome according to their own rules which I carried a copy of along with letters from each countries transport authority, but they preferred to ignore their own letter and make as much hassle as poss.
I think Austria is a much prettier country. The Brenna pass, well, I would have paid another £20 on top of the meal price for the view as I ate it.
Anyway, enjoy your journey.
