New job at brakes , money good start at 5am hope it will be better than my builders merchants- 2,5 years i had 80 quid per day after tax, no holidays, and funny payslips. No more. i hope new job will be better even thru driver hire office
I know a few people who have worked for Brakes in London through an agency , infact they was advertising just the other day . Yes you can earn well , but very long hours and quite stressful. Definitely a younger mans job by all accounts.
Well done!
I worked for a while at Creed Foodservice - Pretty much the same as brakes, 3663 etc
Far from the worst experience ever, some places you go to my be hard to get the lorry in and then a joke getting the products to the kitchens when you can not get the cages of pallets near (Flights of stairs or gravel paths become your enemy). Only reason i left was to go off and drive artics.
Hmm
Im not worried about hard driving exercise builders merchants sending you to country lanes both sides thick bushes lorry just don’t fit and you still going thru scratching everything, plus crane job peple want you to do crazy things cos they want stuff right at their feet worst drops like high street putting ton bag of sand with no legs of crane pulled out inbetween buildings right up 3rd floor up in the air above your head between scafolding no joke
And no holidays i had LOL, i only hope new job is for good, christmas on the way so food business will be busy
Foodservice is always busy. I worked in the centre of London all year so i was delivering to banks and schools mostly, other drivers round the rest of the country mostly had garden centres, nursing homes, pubs and national trust sites along with the schools. Only Christmas day, New years and Sundays were non delivery days.
And virtually nobody helps when you struggle. Asian and Turkish places watch you like a hawk, like you want to nick some of their imported Netto crap.
When unloading into a shop or cafe that is open, watch the public stand right in your way, let the door go in your face
I did a few days at Brakes recently via an agency in aylesford. As has been stated it’s hard graft and expect very little help. Judging by the amount of moaning in the queue at the transport desk I suspect they recruit quite often.
On the plus side I got to drive a truck with a splitter gear box which was a new experience for me.
What time did you start and finish where are deliveries going to,kent central london and why did you left? how old trucks are… Tell me more please thanks and did you have helper with you?
